Beco Butterfly 2 or Fourth Generation?

Thread Starter
I'm in the market for a new carrier for my 20lb. 4-month-old. I have a moby and a babyhawk -- don't use the moby much at all anymore, and though I love the babyhawk, the straps are really annoying when I pop him out and in.

So... I was between the Ergo and the Beco, and now am leaning strongly toward the Beco. But now I see they only sell the Butterfly 2 model, and several people have recommended I get a Fourth Generation instead (guess it would need to be used).

Any advice??

Thank you!

if you're planning on doing back carries and you're new to back carrying, I'd say the Butterfly. You can also transfer the baby from one wearer to another (in forward facing position).

The 4th Generation is nice and simple. More like Ergo. You can find some great deals on trading posts or FSOT on TBW. But there's a bit of a learning curve to back carrying with the 4th Gen.

Beco

What about getting a Beco Butterfly I? Since the Beco Butterfly II came out all the older ones are on sale everywhere. I got mine for $70 including tax about two weeks ago.

My understanding is that there isn't a huge difference between them. The infant insert is removable in the new one, and the new one has a removable headrest, but I have no complaints about the original Butterfly.

It's very easy to use. I got DS on my back alone without the instruction video.
