i'm not "due" til the 27th but i've been feeling some similar feelings as you. one thing that gets me through is my commitment and really strong desire to have an unmedicated birth. i fully believe that one intervention leads to another, and another, and pretty soon your entire birth experience is handed over to "the professionals." it is an incredibly empowering and sacred thing to birth naturally and you have every ability to do it! i know its hard and i'm there with you with wanting to just do SOMETHING to get it over with, but i keep focusing on how awesome i know i am going to feel when i'm laying there with my newborn, feeling the most amazing natural high of my life, knowing it was my own awesome body that got me to that place.

hippy dippy, perhaps, but the alternative of a medicalized birth is not very great. i think most mothers who have been induced will tell you that they wished it could have gone another way. my last birth wasn't induced but it was completely controlled by the doctors and nurses and feeling of that loss of control stayed with me into motherhood for quite some time.

good luck!

hang in there, mal 85! I hear you with the impatience, but you just have to trust that your body and your baby know what to do. You've waited this long, don't evict the poor kid unless you have to!!

I am 8 days past my due date and have basically been in labor for 4 days. I went to doc yesterday and I'm just about 4 centimeters and fully effaced!! This is nuts! It's like I'm having a super long, slow, pain free drawn out labor. I am actually managing to get some sleep too! With my last baby, I was 5 cm when they admitted me to the birth center. I can't believe I'm already at 4!

I had to argue with my doc yesterday about induction. He basically wanted to do it today because he's on call. It's true, it would really suck to have him not there, but I decided I'd rather do that than be induced. He went on vacation last week and I got to totally trip out about that, and now he's telling me he won't be there if it's on Sunday or in the middle of the night. great. Man, I wish I could have had my home birth/midwife.

Had an acupuncture treatment yesterday, and am going for another one this morning (unless, god willing, I actually go into true labor)

I REALLY want it to be today, because my dr. is on call all day and through the night.
COME ON KID!! LET'S DO THIS!!!

I'm glad I waited for my girl to come on her own time. Even though she was supposedly a week past due, she was covered in vernix so I thing she really needed all the time she took. Also, the astrological natal combo she picked is so perfect for her and for our family-- better than anything I could have picked.

I'm just about to give up and assume that the baby isn't coming. Ok, maybe not that drastic, but I'm tired and I don't know if he's coming soon. He was over 9lbs last week and my hips and pubic bone are feeling it. He is still floating.

My mother is flying in today, so maybe I can get some relaxation with her being here and go into labor. So far, I haven't been able to go anywhere because it means dragging 3 kids to find an emergency bathroom.

So, I'm with you, Enudely...I hope this happens tonight! Today is my first due date though....the one if you go by my period and the first possible date of ovulation. I either had a fallback rise or ovulated 3 days later which would make me due on the 24th.

Please let it be tonight.

I'm with LTB. I'm really glad my girl baked all the way. She was in there 3 weeks longer than my last baby, and while it was driving me crazy, I think she needed it. She was 5 days "late" but had the thickest vernix I've ever seen. And I am 100% certain of my dates. And she was slow-to-start too, and I think she faired that well (and remained in my arms during the resus) because she was fully baked. Take a few weeks away and it might have been a more serious situation.

I know how you feel. I was so uncomfortable last evening, I could have told you exactly how many hours until I'm scheduled to go in on tuesday nite. Feeling better this morning, after some sleep and sage words (reread from previous emails) from my doula. I hope you're able to find some peace and sanity.
