No poo help

Hi mamas

A little history: I went no poo in mid December due to a dandruff issue. Initially I didn't use baking soda or vinegar, I just went no poo old skoo style - I washed with water
I started doing the whole baking soda/vinegar thing in January. I was having no relief from the dandruff. I tried essential oils, vinegar soaks, brown sugar scrubbing, salt scrubbing, lice combing and nothing. Still the dandruff.

Finally I put coconut oil in my rinse solution in an attempt to solve this..... so the dandruff is kinda better, but now my hair is a stringy, limp, oily mess.

I've washed with water, soda, dunked my head in baby's bubble bath... no help. I look like a grunge devotee circa mid 1990's.

Please

a couple months ago, I tried doing a jojoba oil treatment to help my dry itchy flaky scalp. It worked for 2 days, but I got 2 weeks of oily, stringy hair.... bleh. I tried BS and vinegar, adding lime juice to my conditioner (I'm a CO 2x/week girl), and I can't remember what other natural remedies. Finally, I decided to wash my hair with DS's california baby body wash and shampoo. Got rid of the oil and my hair recovered from the shampoo in about a week.

So here's what I finally did that has helped my awful scalp problems (I've been no poo since last march).... I got a new conditioner. I had been using burt's bees twice a week, and God my scalp was horrible. The flakiness was even starting to appear on the top of my forehead.... bleh. I couldn't decide between two different conditioners... there was a Tea Tree organic conditioner at Target (can't remember the name of it... it's in a rectangularly shaped bottle with a square pattern on the front) and there was another conditioner called say yes to carrots that had a dead sea mud base to it (if nothing else, it sounded like an interesting experiment). I got a big bottle of the carrot conditioner (because both conditioners were the same price, but the carrot brand had 4 more ounces), and I got a travel size of the Tea Tree stuff. I used the TT conditioner for a couple of weeks and then I tried the carrot conditioner.... and the good news is, they both worked! No more itchies or flakies. So I'm gonna stick with the carrot conditioner for now. Both conditioners are about the same consistency and it takes about the same amount for a single washing... so the way I see it is, as long as the carrot/dead sea stuff keeps working, it's more economical.

I have been no poo for about 2 years - when my scalp started getting dry/flaky, someone here, actually, said to rinse the scalp with ACV; massage it in really well. I hadnt been rinsing my scalp with the ACV, only the ends of my hair.

It worked, and my routine now is to scrub w/ bs & water and then pour about a Tbsp ACV with about a half cup water on my scalp and the ends. I let it sit for a minute or so and then rinse really well. I do this about every 2-3 days.

Anyways, I would think that the ACV would help get the oil out

Good luck!
