Hypothetical Question

If they ever made the entire AAP schedule manditory, how you you protect your child from the vaccines you dont want them to get? By manditory I mean you cant say no even if your religion forbids it or you keep your kids out of school. Manditory as in there is no way out of it.

Probably consider more seriously moving to another country. I'm not going to risk the life of my child because someone 'requires' it. It's a tough call though, I think it wouldn't become an issue because there would be too much of a public outcry, but if they got away with it, yeah, if necessary we'd move.

id go totally underground but it wont happen....the us const still protects our reli. freedom and ill convert to any religion to keep vaccines out of my kids. and no, im not joking.

It wouldn't be the schedule in and of itself that would make me feel like leaving, but I think that, in order to get to that point, there would have to be some serious denial of rights going on. I assume the events leading up to such a change would probably make me want to escape to DH's family.

However, it would be really hard to leave the USA, so, if there weren't too many compounding issues leading up to such a law, I might have to consider doing it...unless somehow I could find a way to be able to live elsewhere in a developed country with the standard of living that we have here...and that isn't easy and it would mean leaving behind a lot that we would never have considered leaving short of serious war/ danger issues.

that's a toughie. i will have to think on it more.

If it gets that bad, I'd be gone in a second. That would just mean that many other freedoms are in jeopardy and I'm not willing to live in a police state, I already lived in one and that's enough for my short life.

I would move too but if the UN made it mandatory (worldwide) then I would say that my kids had horrible reactions to prior vaxes and that for their safety, they couldn't be vaxed.
Ditto on the moving. I could never live in a country that took away my right to parent.

What countries besides the US do not have Mandatory Vaccinations? I pretty sure in the UK it is mandatory, though I know it wasn't followed in recent years largely because of Wakefield.

We're (US) the only one with mandatory vaxes.

Id be gone if that ever happened!

I like the vote to move away, but I wouldn't have that option. Costs too much money to leave.

I'm sometimes afraid that we are leading right up to that sort of police state.

No. Vaccines are not, and never have been, mandatory in the UK.

I'd do anything I had to to raise money to leave the country. It's not so much the aspect of 'we're forcing these potentially deadly chemicals onto your child and you can't do a damn thing about it' as the whole 'we're stripping you of your most basic rights that our nation was founded upon.' that would drive me out. I would run, I would not allow my children to be damaged like that (and really, even if there is no OUTWARD damage forcing that stuff upon their immune system is still damaging)

Thankfully DH has a standing job offer in Canada and he could probably find a job in the Netherlands as well.

I pray that we never have to make such decisions. I would totally run.

This is something my husband and I have actually been discussing recently. We strongly fear that this is where the USA is heading...
We have discussed moving to Canada (as that is where I am from anyhow, so we have family), but are afraid that since Canada has a tendancy to follow in the USA's footsteps, we would only be delaying the inevitable.
We would seriously consider a different country, but the problem then lies with have the funds to do so and getting work to support us once there/before even moving.
I would move back to Canada. I'm thankful I have that option.

my husband said to me the other day: " I just have a feeling that someday we are going to HAVE to get him vaxed." and I said " I will NEVER vaccinate because someone is making me. The ONLY time a shot will be given to our child(ren) is when WE decide that is what is happening."
**I will never be bullied into this. Like previous posters have said, I would move out of country or go off the radar.

Yep. In fact, it's easier here being a non-vaxer, because the whole school / exemption thing doesn't exist , we don't need to worry about any of that. Although there has been talk of introducing a system similar to the US whereby immunisation records have to be shown for school etc.

They can't make it truely mandatory. It'll never happen. The reason why? Becuase if they were, then the government would HAVE to take FULL responsibliity for any and all reactions. And they can't afford that, and therefor won't do it.
