Did small Fb's fit your newborn?

I was planning on waiting on ordering fuzzi bunz until we hit the medium size but I just saw a 10 pack of small for $95. My first 2 girls were mid 7 pounders when born and I assume this one will be around there as well. Do I bother with the smalls or just wait until we are ready for mediums? I have always used prefolds and covers in the newborn stage and then add the pockets for outings and night time later.

Any thoughts are very welcome. Thanks!

I have no personal experience with the smalls... but my DS at 10 mos and 23-24 pounds is just fitting into the mediums on the smallest snap setting so I can't see the smalls fitting a newborn very well!! I think the old style might have but I think the new style fits bigger...

Small FBs didn't fit on my DS (8 lb 3 oz at birth) until he was a few weeks old. Both of my DDs (10 lbs and 9 lb 9 oz) fit into small FBs from birth, they had really roly poly thighs so it fit fine there. The top was a little loose on the tightest setting, so I just crossed over the top tabs.

These are the older style FBs with pointy tabs, though, that I've had for 4+ years now. I haven't tried the newer style, but I know they are supposed to run bigger. Another thing to consider is the umbilical stump - even though the small FBs fit my DDs from birth, the top was high enough that it would have irritated the stump. I didn't use them until 3 days and then 4 days when the umbilical stumps fell off.

definitely not. Even my biggest baby, who was 8 lbs 2 oz. Their thighs are just soooo tiny, so even if you criss-cross the snaps at the waist, they still gap at the legs.

XS/Preemie size fit decent though, just covered the umbilical cord so even w/those I'd wait until it falls off.

I've been using size small old-style (pointy) FB's on my baby boy since birth, and he was a long, 9lb 2oz baby. He's still on the smallest snaps at 12 weeks old now, though the leg snaps are getting a little tight...

Didn't fit my either of my cd'd newborns until they hit 10 lbs--about 3-4 weeks old. Too big in the thighs and everything just leaked right out! They just don't fit the newborn chicken legs too well .

it depends on your babies build. Our babies used smalls for months. Theey had those chicken legs : )

I would think you would need XS The new style runs larger. The smalls should fit for a while once they do fit. Now if your baby is a 9 lb 12 ozer like mine was...they might work from the start I started out with PF and covers though. So I can't say for sure. But I know MANY people who were not able to use the new ones from the start.

DS was 9 lbs 1 oz, and the small old style did not fit him until around 6 wks.
