Retractibility: Moms, share your experience. - Page 2

DS is almost 4 and not even a little bit retractable. Not that I've tried to retract him, but when I take him to the potty in the morning, if you know what I mean, its quite obvious that his foreskin is still firmly attached.

To be honest, I paid little attention to my son's penises after they were out of diapers. We're not uptight about nudity; we just all prefer to be clothed, and always have. DS1 used to "adjust" himself alot, but neither boy was seemingly preoccupied with his bits.

I know DS2 was retractable by the time he was four or so, because I was helping him wash his hair and noticed that his foreskin looked irritated. I asked him, "Is your penis a little bit red?" He retracted, looked at the glans, and said, "Nope....it's purple."

I have no idea when DS1 retracted. I'm assuming he has by now, since he's nearly grown.

DS turned three in December and about a month ago I noticed he was starting to retract. I haven't really "investigated" but I doubt he's fully retractable yet...but he's definitely on his way!

My son will be 4 in June and he is not anywhere close to retracting.

ds is 4 1/2 and at times has been slightly retractable. I only know because sometimes he'll tell me or its noticable if he's having a bath. The only think I have done is talk to him about it for bathing (I encourage him to wash all his body parts and mention the penis too).
He's looked a little confused when I say that he can pull the skin back a little and swish in the water. So we talked a little more and I have to talk it thorugh a bit because he tends to pull the skin the wrong way. But at times he has done it and said it tickles.

I've told him he can do that part himself and if it tickles he can stop, he seems satisfied with that. He swishes around in the bath enough that he is clean. Its very simple I don't exactly understand how the 'cleanliness' got the reputation of being difficlult.

There were a few times when he was younger that he ballooned when peeing. He also had a smegma pearl once which went away and never caused any redness or discomfort.

On the other hand, the 2 ticks (at different times) that I found and had to remove from his scrotum was much more difficult and scary for both of us.

And caring for my dd during diapering, etc. has been much harder. Intact boys are easy(-:
