Tax Return - efiling question

My taxes are done and (thank goodness!) I'm getting a nice return. How much quicker will I get my return if I efile? And who should I file through? I know there is a link on the IRS website, but I'm wondering what experiences you all have had. Thanks!

efiling is definately faster in terms of getting your money back (as a general rule, barring any "issues" with your tax return)

I have used FreetaxUSA thru the IRS website for the past 2 years. Free federal if AIG is under $54K, state cost me $9.95

Well, you don't typically have to worry about the PO losing an efiled return, plus if you do direct deposit, I've found we've gotten our refunds up to 3-4 weeks earlier than paper returns and a paper check mailed back. But that's just my own experience over the last 12 years, your mileage may vary.

I read the title as "effing". Can you tell how I feel about filing?

We usually use software and e-filing is part of the package.

Im curious, do people still mail their return? Is there ever a reason you have to?
I think the time frame is 4-8 weeks for a mailed return, and 2-4 weeks for a efiled. I got mine the week after I Efiled, but I have a very easy return so maybe that had something to do with it.

After I posted it looked like effing to me, too!

Last year I mailed my return and requested direct deposit and I got my refund 18 days later. I probably will go ahead and efile this year - I'm anxious to see what the difference is.

Thanks everyone!

I mailed mine last year because free e-filing wasn't an option (darn it) and I didn't want to pay for it. But this year, it came with Turbo Tax so I'm doing it today. I'd rather get my money faster if I don't have to pay extra for it.

I believe you have to mail it in if you owe. At least that is what we were told last year when had to pay the state.

We do direct deposit and it only seems to be a couple of weeks before we get our refunds. State always seems to take longer than Federal for some reason.

We always owe and therefore mail it in on April 15.
