inserts for special needs night wetter?

Thread Starter
my 6 year old is autistic and still wets the bed every night, we have tried and tried to get him to go in the potty at night but as of yet has not gotten up to do it.
i am having special pocket trainers made by a wonderful lady on etsy, but i need to get som inserts.
i was thinking hemp because it can absorb alot and microfleece to help it absorb quickly...
but i'm not sure if thats the best solution .
any ideas would be lovely.
TIA

I actually always use mf and hemp together at night time and my favorites are combo inserts where the mf and hemp are sewn together! Even with those, sometimes I still put an extra insert in there, mf usually. But I think your idea is a good one!

Do you mean microfiber rather than microfleece? You shouldn't need microfleece for an insert, unless you are putting it directly against the skin.

I personally am a fan of bamboo over hemp. There are all bamboo (bamboo terry + bamboo fleece or french terry - no microfiber involved) inserts available on Hyena Cart for heavy wetters.

I really like the super-doo inserts... I got mine from Abby's lane I think? They are a combo of hemp and microfiber and were designed for heavy wetting toddlers

Hi,

You've probably done this but my eldest is 7.5 yo and would still wet the bed if I didn't take her to the bathroom before I go to bed at 11pm. She "sleepwalks" to the bathroom w/me and then I take her back to bed. We started off by taking her to the bathroom at 11pm and 2am but this got old after a month and we found she stayed dry overnight if we took her at 11pm.

We tried ME bedwetter pants when she was 4-5 yrs and they worked like a charm except that my dd got recurring yeast infections from being wet overnight and at 7 she would not be inclined to wear them I'm sure !

Bedwetting definitely runs in the family....hope you can find a solution that works for you!

I would try a few hemp inserts before you buy a lot of them. I love my hemp pocket inserts, but they can sometimes have stink issues. My 4.5 year old DS still wears pocket trainers at night (and needs a lot of inserts, he's a heavy sleeper) and by morning, it can make my eyes water. I think it's just because of his age, and how strong his urine is, I'm thinking about trying some inserts that aren't hemp just to see if it helps out with that.
