interchangeable needles?

So, I'm thinking about buying interchangeable circulars. Does anyone have a set? I've read good things about the Knit Picks, but don't like that they don't have smaller cables. I want to make things for my baby and want the 12", 16", and 19" cables. The only other one I've looked at is the Denise ones, which has all the sizes I would need, but are made from resin. I've not used resin needles before, so I'm not sure what they're like. I do like that they are made in the US. Any opinions or other sets I should know about?

I got interchangeables from Hobby Lobby (with a 40% coupon) and they are called Boye by Wrights (but then again, they don't carry more than this set at my store at least). I love them. Absolutely love them. The cables come in different sizes and totally meet my needs.

I've been looking at the KA bamboo interchangeable set on the Paradise Fiber website

It doesn't have a 12" or a 19" cable though... then again i've never seen/heard a 19" cable

I have a denise set, and bought it because I don't like metal needles much, and didn't want to spend the money on one of the bamboo sets. Practically speaking it does everything I need. Short long, in-between, I have it. As for the resin, I don't get the same pleasure knitting with the resin needles that I do knitting with wood or bamboo, but they are smooth and the joins taper well, better than the Boye set IMO.

As for another set not having short cables, I would probably just use the interchangeables to emulate DPNs (two circulars at a time)----I don't know if I can describe it well, but I'll see if I can find a link to a tutorial for you. This method lets me do everything I want without buying DPNs or having to use the shorter cables.

I have Denise interchangeables.

I LOVE them with a passion and won't lend them to anyone.

They are light, and quiet, and have a nice feel. They aren't cold and clickety like metal.

Plus you can reorder and add on at will.

The company owners are also very lovely people who are very honorable business people.

.

What she said. They function quite well and are very convenient. I am happiest when I have a pattern that I can use my bamboo needles for.

I have a Knitpicks Harmony (wood) interchangeable set and I LOVE it! For smaller circular knitting I bought an extra 60" cable and just magic loop. In fact I now prefer magic loop for most of my smaller circular knitting. The nice thing about the Knitpicks set is that the cables are very very flexible so I don't feel like they are trying to twist out of my hands like some of my other circular needles do.

I have the Boyes set and a couple of the Knitpicks set. Between the two, I'd much rather have the Knitpicks. The cables on the Boyes are thick and stiff and the longest one is only about 18 inches. And the tips in the larger sizes are very difficult to use, they're so short I have difficulty manipulating them, and can only knit a few minutes before my hands cramp.

For the smaller sizes, I agree with steedalyn, I much prefer Magic Loop. I do have one bamboo fixed in the shorter length, in a size I use a lot, which is good for hats, but anything smaller is done with ML.

i have the knitpicks regular nickel plated ones, and i love them. i bought the fixed circulars for 16", and then I use magic loop with my interchangables for any other size (I do a lot of hats on the 16s)
One thing I particularly like about the options needle cords is that they don't have any memory--you can coil them tight for stroage and they relax right out. One of my friends even tied a knot in hers to see what it would do and it loosened right up and relaxed right out too...

one thing i've heard about knit picks is that they're great with doing replacements if anything is wrong with any of the pieces (one of my friends got the wood harmony ones and one of the sizes had not been sanded properly and was splintery, but she said customer service was great about replacing them for her).

I have the new Addi Click set and so far it is fabulous. Smallest size is 24" though. You could make the smaller things using Magic Loop.

I lovelovelove my knitpicks interchangeables. I didn't buy the whole set, though. I bought tips in sizes 6-11 (because I'm a newish knitter and work mostly in worsted and bulky yarns) and a 40 inch cable. It worked out to be quite a bit less expensive than the whole set (which includes the case). I use the magic loop method to knit small things, so the 40 inch works for hats, mittens, small clothing, etc. I like that I can add on to the set as I need more cables and different tips, but was able to start out with everything I might possibly need now for a lot less than a set of Denise interchangeables. Another way of using the longer cables for small items would be to buy double sets of tips, and work with two circulars at a time (knittinghelp.com explains both methods). The cables from knitpicks already come in sets of two, and each set of cables includes end caps.

A good friend has the Denise set and she steered me away from them and toward knitpicks. I played with her denise needles for a little bit and I didn't like holding the rubbery plasticky tips in my hands. I much prefer wood, with steel as a close second.

Love my KnitPicks interchangeables too. I just magic loop everything that's too small for the smaller cable.
