Does anyone else cringe at this word - Page 2

Absolutely hate it. Degrading is the word. Also hate the stupid restaurant (which DH likes and I cringe at that). I know he's going to want to take DS to it when he gets older so I see yet another big fight about that

I am more bothered by the use of "Hider" than "Hooter." But I won't use one, so I really haven't thought about it much.

"Hooter" doesn't bother me. The term "make love" - I can't even SAY it! BEYOND corny!

I'm an odd mix of prude and crass. There are a lot of curse words I say, but can't stand hooters, t*ts, etc. along with most slang words for genitals. I refuse to say them.

On the other hand, I have no problem with the f word, creative cursing while driving, etc. LOL

I prefer "boink." :

Why are breastfeeding covers a problem? When I was a new mother for the first time, having one empowered me to nurse my baby in public. I eventually got to the point where I didn't feel the need to use it anymore, but I don't see how they're a problem.

The purpose wasn't just to cover my breasts, but also to coax my distracted newborn to nurse in new and noisy places as well as a catch for my hugely overactive letdown when he popped off.

Hooters doesn't bother me. I prefer boobs though. I'm not a fan of tits. Tatas isn't too bad. I will admit to a certain fondness for "Tits Almighty" as a code for erect nipples. It makes me giggle like a 12 year old boy.

Id never heard of them until I came here to the US. Im sure they exist in England but its much more socially acceptable to breastfeed there without covers

I am not crazy about it either. and I'm glad that the maker has changed the name.

Although I would never use covers, I also don't really see them as a problem - unless one looks at them from the perspective that breastfeeding should be hidden - as the original name implies.

If nursing undera cover works for you, do it. If it doesn't, don't. To me, what matters is that we all feel comfortable to breastfeed where we want how we want, be it under a cover or not.

Huh. The term hooters doesn't bother me personally, although I don't use it, and I know it's offensive to some.

Now I'm the real weirdo here, because I find the term "breastfeeding"
offensive. To me, categorizing it with the prefix "breast-" implies that it's out of the norm. I prefer "feeding the baby" (the way nature intended) or "nursing the baby" (snuggling and maybe sneaking in a few kisses , which can be done even if you have to bottle-nurse.)

Eh, I think Hooters is a frat boy term (I almost misspelled that "fart" heh heh). The word that makes me cringe is boobies.

I know I may be the odd one out here, but I love my nursing cover. I don't use it when around only women, but men besides my husband don't need to see by breasts. I don't wear shirts that show any cleavage and I don't even let male doctors see them. Call me weird, but I'm very modest!

I also hate the term "DTD" (doing the deed). Sounds so juvenile. Same the with AF or any of the other cutesy terms. Grosses me out and just generally annoys me.

You didn't get the MDC memo? It's not enough to be a BFing mama; you have to NIP without a cover, and never ever use pacifiers or bottles, or else you're Doing It Wrong.
