stinky toddler urine and stinky diapers!

Okay my ds's pee smell like a skunk ? I asked the doctor about it and she tested his urine and said that he has no infection but that he had some keytones in his urine. (He was sick) He seemed to get better and the urine smell better, then it came back. I can't get the smell out of the diapers and I can't get the smell out of him... What do I do and is this normal for a toddler? Why is this happening?

My 3 yo's pee smells pretty strong....not ammonia but just like an older child's pee. I wash dipes every other day so between washes I usually dump a bunch of baking soda on nighttime wet dipes and if poop is involved I hit 'em w/bac-out. Both methods are great for getting smells out! I recommend rinsing them well first, then dump 1/2 c of baking soda on overnight dipes.

Even though the pee smells do get stronger, we usually keep those really funky odors at bay by stripping the dipes periodically. Usually just turning up the hot water heater and rinsing multiple times on extra hot usually does the trick for us. Worth a try.
