I wrote a letter, and I copied it in the WI tribal thread.
While it is laudable that your son is quite the little lactivist , I hope you were able to share with him that there are valid reasons why some babies drink out of bottles and disgust should not be his first response.

Of course.

Anyone else find it disgustingly ironic that this lobbying organization calls themselves The Wisconsin Family Council?

How family unfriendly can something be?

Old trick. Like putting "Values" in the name. Like everyone who has them agrees and if you disagree yours are bad.

I don't even live in Wisconsin, but I had to e-mail them.

I am a lawyer for firm that is about 50% lobbying firm, and I am not exaggerating, I have never seem anything so nauseating. (Of course our lobbyists work for far less "sexy" causes, like toll roads and property tax exclusions).

I think that their claim to embrace "Judeo-Christian" values put me over the edge. As a Jewish person, I find it deeply offensive that they are using "Judeo-" to describe their "family values."

I just can't believe that any group would waste their efforts on this sort of thing. They must be really afraid of nipples. (All those poor little children in Wisconsin who saw a mother's breast in a public place and grow up to be murderous perverts!)

As a Christian person, I feel _exactly_ the same way!

I think it *might* be the Family Research Institute that backs up a bunch of State-specific organizations.

Wisconsin Family Action is your standard "religious right" organization. Given the date of their founding I'd say it was part of the whole "moral majority" movement and such. I'm not sure if they're necessarily backed up by the FRC, but certainly very much in the same vein.

They're concerned about "children and young people" seeing a breast - the irony here being if NIP were more encouraged or at the very least more normalized I don't think that "children and young people" would even notice let alone think it was out of the ordinary.
