Wahoo! Although, the more I think about it, the less impressed I am with the way they are picking the top 12 this year. People have their favorites picked from the auditions and hollywood week, and so the few that we haven't got to see much of yet (Megan Corkrey, for example) doesn't have much hope of making it to the top 12.
It feels much more rigged this year than ever before.
Oh, and votefortheworst.com has chosen none other than Tatiana Del Toro. Good grief!

One word: DANNY!
:
I'm kinda disappointed, I expected a lot more from a lot of them tonight. Danny's by far my favorite out of this bunch, and Alexis Grace would be my next favorite. Tatiana actually surprised me, I really cannot stand her Drama and she just plain rubs me the wrong way, but she does have a very good voice.
I hoped Brent Keith would do better, his hometown is like 10 minutes away from me and I love country, but I think he could have picked a WAY better song. I had hoped for better from Anoop, Ann Marie, and Michael what's-his-name too.
I'm not sure how I feel about this top three thing yet.

I know how I feel about it- it sucks! Some people might be pretty good, but we're not getting a chance to see them more than once before they hit the top 12. The old method, you got to see people perform 3 or 4 times before they got to the top 12, and you got to know them a bit.
I like that they're not defining the top 12 as 6 women and 6 men, but I don't like how some people won't get through because they're put in a group with other fantastic singers, while some who are "so so" might make it because they were grouped with people who weren't so great.
I'd like to see Danny Gokey, Michael Sarver, Brent Kieth, and Anoop all get through, and send all the women packing.
I do NOT like Tatiana! I like Ann Marie a lot better; she's a much more likable person, but she just didn't sing very well tonight. Frankly, Tatiana is the only woman who didn't screw up the singing tonight, so I have a feeling she's going to make it through.
At least she'll keep things interesting, right?

If I had to pick 3, I'd pick Alexis, Ricky and...I don't know. I'm torn between Danny, Brent, Steven or Jackie. I think Ricky was better than Danny, although Danny was pretty good, especially at the end, and had a more interesting song.
I'm not sure if I liked Jackie's vocals, but it wasn't insipid as so much else was.
I think Anoop probably deserves to go forward, but he just wasn't that good tonight, and I agreed he sounded out of tune.
Casey was insipid.
Ann Marie, also insipid. What the heck was she thinking?
Stevie was horrid.
Michael was OK, but he's better than that normally.
I actually thought that Steven was good also, but as soon as I heard he picked that song, I was disappointed. It wasn't that good of a song when Michael Jackson did it, it doesn't matter how well you sing, you aren't going to sound that impressive. He sounded insipid because of the song, but I thought his tone was better than some of the others. His sustained high note got choked off and wavered, but he did a good job otherwise, as well as you could do with that song.
Tatiana was actually really good in parts, but she was also a little weak in parts, out of tune at times. I agree with Paula that she had a good last note.
Danny was generally good, but he, too, had a few notes that were just not quite right, and parts where his voice seemed to drop out and it was like he was trying to power it out and not really succeeding. But then parts were very good, but his transitions weren't that great. I agree with Simon.
I'm wondering if they had some sort of sound system issues. It just seems odd that they were all so weak sounding. Alexis is the only one who really stood out and impressed me.

I agreed with pretty much every thing Simon said tonight.
Jackie looked horrendous and that song was incredibly corny.
Ricky Braddy has a good voice, no doubt, but he just doesn't stand out in my mind. Perhaps its because they completely ignored him in Hollywood week. AKA, the producers don't want him to win.
Alexis Grace is by far the best woman in that group.
Brent Keith's song choice was completely wrong. Yes, he is a good country singer, and could probably do wonderful in the country music biz, but that song is not something we would remember.
Stevie Wright..... Horrible!!!!! Sounded like drunken Karaoke.
Anoop. Interesting song choice, but he nailed it.
Michael Sarver. Mediocre performance at best.
Casey Carlson. Why? Why would she try to sing that song? It was a complete train wreck.
Steven Fowler. Once again, why pick that song? Horrible.
Ann Marie was good, but not good enough, I don't think, to make into the next round.
Tatiana is of course a super Drama Queen. I cannot quit figure her out. I don't know what is an act and what is real, and until I can figure that out, I will not vote her no matter how good her voice is. (Which, I do think she has a pretty darn good voice.)
Danny Gokey. Good. Very good voice. But I am not jumping on the Band Wagon yet.

I thought last night's show was a HUGE MESS. Everyone disappointed me. Here's what I thought:
Jackie Tohn- Soooo awful. Painful to watch. The clothes were *horrifying*. Her performance was so manly and offputting to me. Just really, really bad. And I don't like her personality at all.
Ricky Braddy- Booooring. He has a good voice, but this morning I'm struggling to remember what he sang and what he even looks like. He's very forgettable.
Alexis Grace- She seems really, really fake to me. Her voice doesn't match her look at all, and she seems way overconfident. I also hated that song, at least with her singing it. (I'd never heard it before.)
Brent Keith- He has a really sweet personality, but I don't think he's star material. He also doesn't seem quite country enough to sing such an over-the-top country song. I thought it was a *really* weird song choice for his first song on the show, too. He did finish the song well, though.
Stevie Wright- Oh. My. God. Terrible. Poor girl. That was just embarrassing. How in the heck did she get this far?!
Anoup Desai - The song was a little cheesy to me for a guy to be singing, especially him. Does he seem WAY older than 22 to anyone else?! He does have a good voice, just not very outstanding.
Casey Carlson- This was amazingly terrible. She is SO ANNOYING, and I absolutely loathed that song the way she did it. The whole performance was just highly, highly irritating. And did you see the way she jerked her hand away from her mom when they were sitting together after her performance? It was very hostile body language.
Michael Sarver- I thought he did pretty well. The only criticism I have is that he stuck too close to how Gavin DeGraw does the song and almost seemed like he was impersonating him rather than making the song his own. I think he can really sing well, and I would love for him to go all the way because he seems really down-to-earth and nice.
Ann Marie Boskovich - I don't think she's anything special at all. She's not stunningly pretty compared to the other girls, so she won't get by on her looks, and her voice isn't good enough or memorable enough to keep her in on that alone.
Stephen Fowler- Really bad song choice, which disappointed me a lot, because I think he is capable of doing really well in the competition.
Tatiana del Toro - How sad is it that SHE was probably the best girl last night?!!! I couldn't believe my ears. Her demure personality really is scary. Notice how her guy friends didn't answer the question that Ryan asked about how she REALLY is in real life. They let Tatiana answer that herself.
Danny Gokey- I think he's the best of them all, but even he didn't pull out a fabulous performance last night. I definitely don't think it was worthy of all the praise the judges heaped on him. It was just so-so for him, I thought. He's capable of much better.
Does anyone notice how horrible Ryan is at being a host lately?! He doesn't know how to improvise at all, so when an awkward moment comes up, he just sits there looking dumbfounded. It's really quite embarrassing. I just started noticing him being this way at the end of season 7. I wonder if he's trying to get replaced?
I'm not really sure how the new procedure works for sending people home, again because of Ryan's crappy job explaining it, but I'm thinking three of these people go through? In that case, I think it will be:
Danny Gokey
Alexis Grace
Michael Sarver
And Anoup will be one of the wild cards.

I like Alexis, Danny and Anoop the best.
Wow, the whole show was awkward. With the contestants having to squeeze into next to their parents, half the time their butts were right on camera. Then the director yelling roll tape after they had the tape freeze, it was just weird. Half the time, the parents got cut off when their kid came in the room.
