How to Find an Anti-Circ Pediatrician

I need to find a new doctor for my daughter. I want to only see a doctor that does not perform circumcisions. How do I find out? Can I just call and ask? How do I know they are being truthful?

That is what I did. They will not know your opinion if you do not share it with them first. So, they will not be swayed in which way to answer.

It takes a lot of digging, but they are out there.

NOCIRC has a list as well as Doctors Opposing Circumcision.

Yeah, you can just call up and ask. I assume when you call up you will have other concerns and questions that you can layer it in. That way its not such a strange phone call, instead you just sound like a parent doing her homework when it comes to her daughters ped.

You will need to word it like "is the Dr opposed to circ" rather than "does the Dr perform circs" if you want a Ped that is ANTI-circ rather than just one who doesn't do them.

A lot of peds do not do circs.

That's a good point. OP It's probably easiest to just call and ask.

We asked our Pediatrician what she thought of circumcision.

She then spent about 5 minutes telling us the AAP stance on it, that it doesn't accomplish anything medically, it's based on superstition, does more harm than good ... and that she will only do them if the parents have a religious reason.

We didn't know whether we were pro- or anti-circ at the time, but she converted us at that meeting (and we chose her as our Ped).

If you're not doing a sit-down meeting then I'd suggest an open-ended question about circ so that they answer truthfully.
