.....or is it just me

i need to laugh, and feel silly and light, and pretend that pregnancy is a madcap adventure -- you know, just try to get away from all of the fears and stresses and stuff.

i have two favorites but would love to hear YOURS:

1.
i have read and re-read this book, for one. it never fails.

http://www.amazon.com/Diary-Honest-M.../dp/140130270X

(this is jamie oliver's --the naked chef guy --his wife's preg diaries, very fluffy and fun but not annoying. gives you the good junky magazine feeling, ya know? at the same time it is down to earth. OH and there are recipes )

2.
another thing i love is any "i love lucy" that deals with pregnancy, labor, birth, and newborn. that 1950's fantasy, sigh....... love it.

does anyone else have any suggestions for a mini escape? thanks in advance

d.

Have you seen "Baby Mama"? If you like Tina Fey, I would highly recommend it.

There's a hilarious book called "The Mother Side of Midnight" that had me rolling because it's SO TRUE! It's not about pregnancy, but about parenting. And it's a mom's account of just being a mom. Very well written, in fact I may go dig it out now and re-read it!

Oh, and I second Baby Mama, it's hilarious!!

And I thought Juno was pretty good, not exactly light, in fact it tackles a lot of heavy issues, but it's a good pregnancy movie nonetheless.

I watched Nine Months over the weekend. The one with Hugh Grant. I remember seeing in 1995 when I had my first child. I love that movie, goofy as it is.

The movie with the girl living in Walmart is a good one too. I just can't remember the name of it. I think it has Natalie Portman on it.

JUNO
Baby Mama
Knocked Up
and not quite light, but I find it SUPER amusing is 15 and pregnant (Lifetime movie with Kirsten Dunst)

I also love the Father of the Bride (I think Part 2 is the one with the pregnancies)

i thought that "Waitress" was really funny, sad at times, but i felt good at the end. I laughed for sure. it has Keri Russel (felicity)

also the ones everyone else recommended.

ditto - I loved this movie!

I also thought Jenny McCarthy's Belly Laughs was a funny book, she had a super-medical birth, but the stuff on everything "TMI" is priceless.
