TLC's What Not to Wear

I am so addicted to this show. I watch it every Friday night - when I'm home - and I keep it on during the day on Saturday's, too!! When I'm out shopping - thrift or reg retail - I hear Stacy and Clinton's voices in the back of my head - "you know that pattern won't work for you" "or maybe you should try this color instead of this color" -

Anyone else in the same boat as me?

I have a huge crush on Clinton-even bought his book Freakin' Fabulous, which is..fabulous and funny!

I'm always a bit perplexed as to why I like the show-quite often I find their styling choices to be frumpy, cookie cutterish and predictable, and I detest Nick, but it's Clinton that draws me in.

I love that show but I don't get that channel anymore. Sure do miss it.

Me, too! I love him! My friend got me his book for Christmas, and I devoured it in one night. I need to try some of his recpies.

I really think they give such great advice to the makeover ladies. I just don't understand how so many women hate to shop! I really comes down to body image, which I can totally see. I, however, love to shop!

I love the show. :3 It helps me to not be so afraid of judging Mom's choice of clothes when she's out shopping. ("Mom, that really doesn't work for you, you should try this, instead...")

There was a marathon on, once, and I actually sat down and took notes.

I secretly hope someone from my church will nominate me, LOL!

This show makes me really sad. I feel like Stacy and Clinton are real UAVs to people and how freaking embarassing?!

Plus the amount of money they get doesn't ammount to much clothing in the places they are forced to shop.

I have a friend who nominated herself (at the mall!) and was chosen to be on. She has said that everyone (Stacy and Clinton and the hair and makeup folk) were really fun and nice. I'm guessing it is the editing that makes them seem like UAVs. My friend had a great time and she no longer looks like a 30 year old 5th grader!

FWIW, my friend was Courtney, the very small, very short gal who could only shop in the children's section. She now knows how to have clothes altered to fit her and looks fabulous!

I remember that show!

I really can't stand that show... For one thing the hosts seem intent on ripping anything even remotely comfortable from the hands of the current project in the name of style.

I have nothing against being fashionable, but dang it... even I like having a crappy old t-shirt and a hidious (but absolutely and utterly the most comfortable) pair of pants around for the lazy days...

But, it seems that the participants aren't saving those comfy clothes just for lazy days...they're wearing them all the time. Or they truly don't know what style flatters them.

If the hosts were sugar sweet to these folks there wouldn't be a show. Conflict and drama drive good tv (and books and movies...) The participants know what they're getting into when they say they'll play.

I've seen them throw things away dispite being told that said clothes around only worne outside if said person is going to get the mail (who cares what you wear to get the mail? My neighbours certainly don't. At least I really hope they don't).

Either way, you can't throw it all out cause everyone needs at least one comfy, cozy, completely fashion-deprived outfit to wear on the days when you just don't care.

I imagine that frequently, too.

I love watching the show because there's so much good advice, but I would absolutely DIE of embarrassment if I were nominated. I can't imagine having my wardrobe, hair, and makeup mocked on national tv for millions to see.

I'd love to be on the show. I wouldn't be embarrassed...I know I look horrible. This would be a way of learning what would look best on my round body and getting a new wardrobe for free.

I think that they're pretty good about helping peope get decent clothes. They've shopped at H&M and Old Navy, especially with the SAHMs or WAHMs that need every day clothes. Yes, they invest in nice, quality clothes but I think they do a fair job of balancing it out. (jmo)

I love Stacy and Clinton. :

I love that they have people of all ages and body sizes on the show. Us chubby girls need some love too. I think Stacy and Clinton have just the right about of sass without being too mean. In the end, they seem to genuinely care about the person (I've even seen Stacy cry).

I love this show too- I think Clinton is the best. I hadn't heard about his book but I will have to check it out!

I remember going online to TLC and they had lists from some of the episodes of everything that the people bought. While there were some more expensive items (typically what the viewers see at the end), there were a lot of more reasonably priced items too. They seem to do a good job of helping people choose a balanced wardrobe. I sometimes wish I could be nominated! I heard in a behind the scenes episode that people on the show frequently email Stacy and Clinton if they have questions and they get back to them.

I love this show and can watch it for hours if it several episodes are on. I think both Clinton and Stacy are pretty well balanced between being mean/harsh and really genuinely wanting their participants to look awesome and feel awesome.

I totally agree about the comfy clothes though! Why take those away!! I'd be distraught if I had to give up my comfy clothes.

I'd probably be an excellent candidate for their show, but the only way I'd agree to do it would be if they let me spend my $5000 on organic/green sweatshop free clothes.

In any case, I no longer have tv, so no more clinton and stacy.
