My dad was very confused as to why I wouldn't want to vax. It caught me off guard and I racked my brain for a way to explain at least part of my choice to him. This is what I did:
He played football in high school (he grew up here in Texas...so football was HUGE for him) I said, "When you guys got ready to compete you scrimmaged against each other or another team right? And that helped you learn the game because you actually got in there and fought a team. Well, if you showed up and were playing cardboard cutouts it wouldn't be the same. You'd learn the basics, maybe, and kind of get the idea; but it wouldn't be the same as actually playing another team. That's the way I look at vaccines. Your body has to fight a dead virus so it kind of gets the idea. But if you actually get some of these things (Varicella, MMR stuff, the flu) your body builds up stronger antibodies and can more effectively fight it the next time you come in contact."
Not sure if I was totally on the right track...but it seemed to make sense.
lol just thought I'd share a brief triumph.

...that's pretty much why I quit my job last summer! Some people just won't understand no matter what you do...but it sounds like you are on the right track
