Henna and No-Poo

I have been no-poo since the first of the year. I just bought some henna from Lush and did a strand test and am quite pleased with the results. My problem is that the sales associate said that vinegar can cause the henna to fade more quickly so now I think I need an alternative to my usual no-poo rinse of diluted ACV.

I've heard of using egg as a conditioner but would love some other suggestions.

Also if any no-poo mamas have used henna can you tell me how it worked with your no-poo routine.

I had hennaed my hair back that one summer when I first experimented with no-poo.
The red disappeared.

Others' mileage may vary, but on DD, the red lasted a LONG time. On me, it was gone.

I've read so many posts over the net about people complaining that nothing successfully takes out their henna. Does that mean no-pooing is hard on hair if it can strip out henna when virtually nothing else can?

I don't think no-pooing could possibly be hard on the hair...i have only been doing it since Jan. and I'm no expert but it seems like BS and ACV would have to be gentler than chemicals...

The sales associate at Lush said that vinegar diminishes the effects of the henna...whereas bleach opens the hair shaft so it basically pushes the henna further in and makes it harder to strip out...so I would imagine that's why no-poo can possibly fade henna...

I am still wondering what to use to condition with...
