Non-vax in MS

Thread Starter
My husband has a job offer in MS and I have a few concerns. We are a non-vaxing, homeschooling family and I'm wondering what you do about your children seeing a pediatrician if they need to there? Are there any "open minded" doctors in the area.
Also, if any of you homeschool, are there groups, etc. for the children to be a part of.

Thank you so much. He has to make a decision by tomorrow about this job.

As long as you homeschool, not vaxing is not an issue in MS. However, MS is one of two states with only a medical exemption. Unless that changes, public schools are not an option for the unvaxed.

I'm really sorry I didn't see this until now. Did y'all make a decision?
I do not have any help as far a ped goes...it's a long story. But I think there are a few midly non vax friendly. I don't think you'll find one that necessarily agrees, but one that *may* be willing to see your child. I don't know who they are though.
As far as homeschool groups go there is a great one:

I am new to it but am really enjoying it so far. We just had a Valentines party and are planning several field trips over the summer like a train ride, and going to a fire dept etc. And if your kids are older there are science trips and such. There is another group that is Christian based that I do not know the name of but can find out if you need it.

Again, I'm sorry I didn't see this. This is not an forum here on MDC so I don't check in very often.
If you do move here, LMK and I will try to help you out as much as possible. I am def. a part of the crunchier community in the Jackson MS area.

I'd like to invite any MS parent to join the MS Vaccine Information Center: http://parents.meetup.com/465/

We are in support of informed consent and are in cooperation with Barb Loe Fisher of the NVIC.
