Employment Manual

I am posting this on bahalf of a friend.

FYI - She works abroad for a NJ based company.

Quote:
I work from home for an American company. We get a 10 minute paid nursing break when we work 7 hours or more and I was using my lunch break time or doing quiet work (off the phones) for the rest of the feedings.
(I do send him to a babysitter when he is not napping or eating.)

We are having a meeting to discuss the new handbook and I want to come prepared. The rough draft was written by a man and was ridiculous - it said that if your baby needs more than 10 minutes to eat, then you have to make other arrangements, such as having someone give the baby a bottle.
Obviously, that won't work, because I would still need to pump twice during 7 hours - even if DS doesn't nurse. And once I'm pumping, I might as well just nurse!
So my question is, what do people in America do when you have to nurse or pump during work?
Any advice for her?

Thanks!

She may also find helpful language in the Business Case for Breastfeeding which is available free here: http://ask.hrsa.gov/detail.cfm?PubID...&recommended=1 and have a look at this Mothering article: http://mothering.com/articles/new_ba...ng-9-to-5.html
