belly binding part deux

so i'm still not sure about what method to do, but i did have an idea.

someone got me a carrier that was the wrong size so i decided to exchange it for a sleepy wrap since everything else i have babywearing-wise is sized specifically to me. which led me down another path...couldn't i use that for binding as well? isn't it just a long strip of stretchy fabric? i think someone suggested doing that and using a snappi.....*thinking hard about this*

I considered it, it seems like a good idea - but then I wouldn't be able to carry the baby with it! I've used almost every variety of carrier with DD except a wrap, so I'm excited to try the moby wrap!

i've already got 3 other carriers so i feel like it would be ok to swap it out.

think i'm also going to go to the pharmacy and see about abdominal compression wraps for surgery. i got a boppy postpartum support belt and it felt so cheap so i returned it.

is that like a moby? the moby is insanely long, so i think a wrap would be really bulky.

I got a 10-pack of 6" ace bandages from an ebay seller for like $15... hopefully that'll work for me. The price is definitely right!

I'm not sure if it's going to work, but I found some really stretchy, thin fabric/material that is almost sheer and got a yard each of the cream and nude. $3.00 total. Then I got a roll of sew-on velcro. After baby, I'm going to have mom bring her sewing machine over and get something of a belly-binder or 2 rigged up. I hope it works!

ok, I feel kinda dumb, but I am guessing at what yall are discussing...is it something to pull together all the extra skin/fat after the birth?

I really wanted the bamboo belly bandit, and even got a store to order it for me, but I couldn't justify the expense. I got the medela one today, and it seems *ok* I think I'll use it with the bella band or Hugabub band under it though so it doesn't annoy me or over it so you can't see it under clothes. It feels pretty soft, like an ace bandage, and it was only $19.

not sure still if I'm going to return it and get the bamboo bandit though!

basically, yes. to hold the tummy in while everything finds its proper home... and to alleviate the "guts spilling out" feeling that i've heard mentioned so many times.

there was a previous thread that i started that had a lot of information on it...from within the last 2 weeks. i'm running out the door, otherwise i'd link it for you, but look for it! you might find something useful.

domerjen, it probably wouldn't be TOO bulky on me - i'm built pretty big and have gained about 40 lbs so far
