Hard time with contractions

I'm having a hard time with contractions. This is my third baby, 2nd unmedicated labor. At my last appointment (I believe), I asked my OB what position my LO is in. Answer: OA. From reading SpinningBabies, I'm under the impression this is good for birth.

My contractions are much harder than they were with DS2 (first unmedicated labor), and I don't know how much my water being broken is playing into this. My water with DS2 was broken after I was at 10cm, before they told me to push (I didn't have the urge yet). With the earlier contractions, I was feeling a lot of pressure on my perineum. Now, I feel the contractions right between the front points of my hips, and in my back. I had back labor with both of my others, so this isn't too much of a surprise for me.

I'm having a hard time finding a position to be comfortable in. Hands and knees isn't really helping much, unless I jostle my hips. Pelvic tilts don't do much, swaying side to side doesn't do much.. jostling is ok sometimes. Walking - not really. Standing - no. Sitting and leaning forward - no. Best position with DS2 was standing and leaning over something, and it's not cutting it now, either. I was lying down on my side watching a movie and that helped for a few contractions, but when they got stronger it stopped helping. I just don't know what to do. I keep *almost* wanting to go to the hospital, and then I have to remind myself they really can't do anything for me since I don't want any drugs.

I think i'm a bit constipated, but I'm trying to stay hydrated and hoping this will resolve itself soon - I've been drinking lots of fluid lately, but I've only been like this the last day or so. After a contraction I really feel like I have to pee, too.

do you have a birth/excersize ball that you can put into the bathtub? Maybe someone can help you sit on the ball and spray your back?

The contractions without the water intact are much more painful. Try to relax. Also if you have some lavender essential oil, put that on a warm/wet rag and smell it for relaxation.

I hope you hold your baby soon.

When was your last appt? Maybe your LO was OA, but is now OP? I second the birth ball.

It was the 9th. I was supposed to have one last Monday, but I forgot about it so it was reschedule for this afternoon. We have a ball but it's completely deflated in the garage, and DH is asleep right now (works nights). I don't think he's flipped around, I'm still feeling the exact same movements as when I was told OA. But, I don't know. This baby is also estimated bigger than my other two were, so maybe that is making contractions more painful? Where I feel the most pressure is right where his head was at my last u/s. The ctx are also making me nauseated. They aren't even a minute long yet.

Try lifting your belly during contrations, see if that helps a bit. Also, can you get in the bathtub? or if not that, maybe the shower? Hot water alwasy makes me feel much better. Good luck!!!

Just last night.

I agree with the other posters about the water...it often speeds things up as well. Is there anything mentally holding you back that you would feel better about if you were at the hospital?
