Cinderella Lap Book

We are reading a few varieties of Cinderella stories (The Irish Cinderlad, Yeh-Shen, Domitila, and The Egyptian Cinderella), and I thought it would be fun for ds#1 to put it all together in a lapbook and/or a homemade book, but am looking for ideas of what to add. So far, I have made a simple story map for each of the four books (I'll have him write the character's name and the setting for each, and then I'm going to take dictation from him for what the problem and solution is for each story). I also was going to have him dictate to me his favorite of the four and then draw a picture of what he liked about that one. I am curious if anyone has any other ideas? I'm not sure if I can find the information, but I thought a small time line of when different Cinderella stories were first written could be fun. Or maybe a "fact sheet" of Cinderella trivia - we have a great article in the most recent AppleSeeds magazine about various Cinderella stories (there are supposedly over 900 of them). Ideas?

Hi,

This is probably not what you're looking for but my kids REALLY enjoyed Rossini's Cenerentola (Cinderella in Italian). The music is incredible and even my 2 yr old (at the time) LOVED it!

I don't "lapbook" so this probably isn't helpful BUT it's a great way of getting in some music and foreign language practice (It has english subtitles!)

I second this one, we did it with our 4 1/2 year old and she had so much fun with it.

I don't really have anything to add but wanted to tell you what a great idea this is! I'm going to try to incorporate something similar with my soon-to-be 3 year old since she is OBSESSED with Cinderella at the moment. This board has such great ideas. Thanks again!

I'm glad my thread was helpful! What's ironic is that we don't even like the popular French-version of Cinderella (from where comes the Disney version). But, we do enjoy the multicultural versions (we really like The Irish Cinderlad and The Egyptian Cinderella, which is thought to be the oldest version). I think for us, I'm going to stick with identifying character/setting/main problem/how the hero/heroine solves the problem, writing about his favorite version, and maybe doing a little fact-sheet. Maybe I can have ds narrate his own Cinderella-type story. I'll have to chew on that idea.
