Vax exemption for ME?

I'm on the list to interview for a position as a bf counselor with WIC when a position opens up but I have a dilemma. One of the requirements is that all employees are fully vax'd. I do not want to get vax'd at ALL. I haven't since I can recall (probably in high school last, so at 16 at the oldest although I'm thinking more like 14 and I'm 24 now). Can I get around it? I somehow doubt it. That said, I can always see if the homeopath/MD (who does not give vax's and will only refer out if his clients still want them) will write a note saying I am right on schedule (and my schedule is NO vax's...hehehe).

I am Canadian, so take this advice with a grain of salt....

Firstly, I wouldn't do anything until you are offered the job, just in case they choose to discriminate against you because of this.

Then, after all employment deals are finalized, I would simply state, matter of factly, that you don't vax due to religious reasons, and what documentation will they require to this effect.

Don't make not vaxing a question. "I don't want any more vaxes, is that ok?" No, no, no. Just state it, like you would say "that car is red." Not open for debate You are only ask what they need for their files.

Good luck!!

I can see their point of wanting an employee to be vaccinated. You'd be working with infants and if an employee exposed a young client to whooping cough or something the parent could sue. I'm a hospital nurse in and adult care setting and they have *really* been pushing us to get the flu vac the past couple years. If we decline, we are required to sign a form saying we are stupidly, selfishly, and willfully putting our patients lives in danger ( I paraphrase) What I think is really funny is that if we agree to take the flu shot we have to sign a consent saying we are getting vaccinated of our own free will and will not hold the hospital liable if we get vaccine damaged.

If you'd been vaccinated as a child, you probably got all they want you to have- excepting maybe hep B, flu and chickenpox. Your highschool might have your old vax records, or your old ped Dr. It is possible you could get a titer done for chickenpox, and if you've been exposed you'd have antibodies, so no need for the shot. Hep B is to protect you and in all the hospitals I've worked at it's been offered but not made to be a manditory thing. Good luck.
