Mild "menstrual"-like cramps?

For the past few days, I have been feeling what feel like very mild menstrual cramps a few times a day. My normal period cramps are pretty mild, anyway, so it's not interfering with my life or anything, but it is a little bit distracting.

Anyone else have this sort of feeling? Does it mean anything? I think the baby has "dropped" a bit in the past week - could that be what I'm feeling?

Thanks!

Edit: They're very dull and mild, and they don't feel like what I would think contractions are like or anything. Just a dull ache.

I'm not having them (yet) this time around, but as I've mentioned in threads here and there, I had that feeling the morning of the day I went into labor! I want to say it's something cervix-related because I'm thinking the cervix letting menstrual fluid through is what causes cramps, but I could be wrong on both counts.

my labours have all started out that way. good luck

Yeah, that's the start of labor. Doesn't say anything about when it will kick into high gear, but that's it! GL mama!

I had cramps last night.. and nothing has happened.

Today I have them VERY lightly off and on- no big deal.. I WISH it was the start of labor!! i HOPE!

I've been having cramps for at least a week now - no pattern, no peak, and they feel exactly like menstrual cramps. I asked my doc about it yesterday and he said some women get them and they dont mean labor is imminent.

I had menstrual-type cramps which radiated around to my lower back and down into my thighs all day yesterday. This was along with contractions that got increasingly regular as the day went on....started out about 2 every hour or so in the morning to coming every 2-7 minutes last night. I drank a lot of water, took a warm bath, changed position, moved around....nothing stopped them. Finally, they petered out when I went to bed, and so far this morning the cramping is mild and I've only had one contraction.

I'm thinking it's all a sign of pre-labor. So, maybe it's the same with your cramping?!

Are you having any other signs or symptoms? I remember reading somewhere that bursts of energy, slight puffiness in the legs and ankles, craving more water than usual, etc. are also signs of pre-labor.

Good Luck!

I've gotten cramps like these in all my pregnancies- up to a month before I delivered the baby. In this one so far I've had them off and on for a couple weeks.

For me it is part of the body getting ready, but not necessarily a sign of impending labor.

I really hope it's the sign of early labor because I've been having them as well. Although I'll try to not get my hopes up at this point, maybe it's just your body getting ready.

Ditto. I've been having them now for weeks. The other day I was having them every 3 mins...then poof! They go away.

Ugh, how annoying!

I have cramps again tonight, very light, but nothing..

That's how mine started, and I was in hard labor a couple of hours later. My labor contractions felt absolutely nothing like what the BH ones felt like.

Good luck.

I had the menstral cramp feelings for 3 days at around 33 weeks...to the point where I called my MW. She came by to check me and we realized that the baby had dropped that week...so most likely that is what my body was adjusting to. I will also say that my first lbirth started out with cramps...they were so much like menstral cramps that I was in denial about being in labor. So I do think yours are contractions...but I do not think it tells too much about when active labor will start. The good news is..your body is preparing and revving up! YAE

to the OP- update? How are you doing? Did the cramps go away... are you in labor?!

a wierd thing I notice about mine, they only happen at night. I haven't noticed them any other time during the day, only in the evening.

Nope, I don't think I'm in labor yet.

It's weird - I feel the cramps mostly now at night. During the day, I'll feel fine (just some mild backache), but at night, as I'm going to sleep, I feel the cramps again, and the past two nights, I've felt some weird sensations, like my bladder and cervix are getting stomped on (or maybe headbutted)! Last night, I had what felt like it might be a contraction, but just one. I was walking back to the bedroom from the bathroom and I had to stop and just stand there for a bit until it passed. And that was all! This is all very...interesting.

me too! that's what I feel too. I get them at night only and sometimes get very intense pains in my stomach or shooting down my legs or in my bladder/cervix region...

It's really common to feel all the "stuff" happening at night because during the day we're active (and sometimes overdo it). By the time evening and bedtime roll around, the pain starts. Mine goes on for weeks like that. Seems the more I do during the day, the worse it is at night.

It has started for me now, so I know that I'll be having this baby in 4 to 6 weeks, if it goes like my others. With my first, I thought it meant I would have my baby early. Nope. He was late, just like my second.

I haven't had any in a couple of days now. Come on, baby! I'm tired of this pelvic pain, and I miss sleeping on my belly!
