I felt so heart-sick watching the stories of all of the orphans in Africa. But it was so inspiring to see the spirit of some of these children. It makes me feel so grateful that there are people like Oprah in the world who can and will make a huge difference in so many of these children's lives. I knew she was building schools in Africa, but I didn't know that it was a leadership academy for girls. That's just too cool!

This book feels good in your hands. The paper is heavyweight, and the illustrations flow perfectly.

I saw it, too. Made me sad to think of all the children without any adults looking over them and taking care of them.
The thing that I remember most is that 11 million children in Africa are living as orphans right now. According to Oprah, that is equivalent to all of the children under age 14 living in the states of California and New York becoming orphaned and having to live on their own.
I appreciate Oprah's efforts to bring this worldwide issue to the eyes and ears of mothers everywhere.
warmly,
claudia
