So proud of dh...

If you walk into our home, the only sign of a baby is a swing, tucked behind a couch, and then upstairs the co sleeper. But other than that.... you can't tell we will be having a baby soon. ANyways, we were out today trying to see if there was anything else we needed, and I asked dh what he thought I missed... and he said, well he has some clothes, a blanket, a set of boobs, and diapers... what more does he need? I just thought it was sweet, and glad he supports the parenting style we do, because it just seems that so many people have to have TONS of stuff for a baby. But really, a baby doesn't care about toys, a crib, a painted room, etc.

Makes me smile- so true!

Tho it is possible to just go nuts with it all- isn't simple best in the beginning? And despite our best efforts, our DS1 has accumulated an obscene amount of toys- and dh and I haven't bought more than a doll and a truck for him!

If you know mamas around you, hand-me-downs are great for most other stuff, too . . .

So true.

Baby's room is far from "done". We're just not stressed about it.

We don't have that much stuff around the house either. Like you said, boob, clothes and diapers and lots of arms to hold him. What else really does he need? We're set.

You would never know a baby was coming into this house. Not a single thing has changed but a rearranging of clothing in drawers in my room. It really is that simple.

Until recently, our only sign of a baby was a changing table in our bedroom stacked with diapers and receiving blankets.

Someone at my work brought us all kinds of baby "gear" though this week- a swing, a bouncer, and exersaucer. Our other kids liked the exersaucer around 9 months or so, but we've never had a baby so far that would sit in a swing or bouncy seat. I took the gear because they are in good shape (and free!)- and with three kids there might be times when we need to put baby down for a few minutes. If so we have a variety of things to choose from. But truthfully, I will probably end up donating the items to charity.

I just had this discussion with my brother. Him and his wife are due with there first March 9th(only 10 days befor me). There is some tension anyway but he was telling me the reason they have not been around very much is because they are so busy getting the babys room ready. I flat out told him that as long as the baby has a clean diaper a full tummy and some clothes it wil never know htat everything isn't in propper order. That these people that he is putting on the back burner are the people he is going to need to turn to when Olivia(the baby) is crying and they don't know why or when she has a terribel diaper rash or just needs some suport and they aren't going to be there because you have pushed them away!

Car seat or infant seat?

We've got a bassinet on loan and that's still upstairs and out of the way. We moved some things around in the toddler's room to give the new baby a drawer for clothes (half of which are hand-me downs from the toddler and half are on loan) plus there's a tub in the corner with more clothes on loan. We may get a bag of hand me downs from my sister soon.

Other than that... I need to wash the wrap and the bouncer cover and we're pretty much set.

We MAY get a double carriage when we go to the US in the summer but it depends on the budget. Until then, I'll be baby wearing the newborn when we go out.
