1. There are 2 black doctors at the st v's clinic 2 of them family pratice will they be able to know more about foreskin ?

2. There are some doctors that got schooling in california and washington will they be able to know more about the foreskin

I don't believe race would have anything to do with foreskin knowledge...country of origin might though.

I also think the state they were educated in has anything to do with it. Most medical schools only teach doctors how to remove a foreskin...not take care of it.

I would grill any doctor ( and have info to educate them with) before I ever removed my son's diaper in their presence.

Actually an African-American mama here on MDC said that the circ rate among African-American men is high.

Mexican men/South American men, however, supposedly have lower rates of circ.

As other have suggested you should not count on race or state if your doctor is foreskin friendly. Its true that the circ rate is lower in California, but also keep in mind one of the most pro-circ doctors in the United States (the guy who wrote poems about circumcising little boys) is from San Francisco, CA.

Grill your doctors, simple as that.

Even Canadian Doctors who go to school here are not all properly informed on the topic and our Circ rate is really low compared to the US.

I think if you're concerned about the way a doctor might treat your family's genitals, it is perfectly fine to break the ice when making the appointment by asking: "Does the doctor have a foreskin?"

ok I am in the process of finding a Ped for my baby and I ask "Does the DR have experience caring for an intact penis?

frankly, the state of the drs penis is none of his patients business, and what about female drs?

If they are African American then they are no more likely to be foreskin knowledgable then any other American Dr. This of course doesn't mean that every single America Dr is circ happy, just most of them. Country of origin/training is much more relavent. Many black people (just like anyone else) do come from non-circing countries though, so listen for an accent.

Though I have no idea what their schools will have specifically taught them, they will have seen more intact equipment amongst patients they saw while training than a Dr in Minnisota will have.

Just because the circ rate is higher in black men doesn't mean black men (especially doctors) can't know how a foreskin works. Ask how much expirience the doctor has with intact children - male and female - not whether or not he has a foreskin. My partner doesn't have a foreskin but he knows enough about it that he is fantastic with his intact son.

I did research and found many were uneducated so it's going to hopefully be educated time because the DOC is going to send a Warning Letter to all the peds in billings so hopefully they will pay attention and know what they are doing is Wrong Now even though they were taught to do that in school but it's Wrong now and those Peds can get into big deep trouble when they do it at well checks or recommend parents to clean under because one of the other clinics did do that.

So I am like it's time to get billings docs up to speed and education so no more hurtful boys !

Have you tried posting in your states "Finding Your Tribe" to see if anybody there knows of a foreskin friendly doc in Billings?

I guess we were lucky because our pedi never tried to check out the genitals of our children. He did check our youngest a few times in infancy for undescended testicle (he had one that hadn't dropped) but never did he try to check or retract his foreskin. The doctor was from India, where RIC is practically unheard of, so maybe that was why.
