Serger help

I am looking to buy a serger for under $300. Any recommendations or suggestions? I have never used one, but I know it would come in handy to make clothes and such. Thanks in advance!

My mom really likes her Kenmore serger. They're on sale for $199 right now. I would definitely stay away from the serger that's sold at Wal-Mart. I had that one for a year and it tortured me on a regular basis.

I bought this one (at Walmart)about six months ago and have used it a lot with no problems. It is available at walmart.com, but I don't know if it's 'the' one at walmart. It's gotten good reviews on Amazon.

I think that is the same one I got for Christmas. So far it has worked very well for me.
