no signs yet...

Ok...I'll be 38 weeks along in 2 days. My baby has not dropped...midwife checked me the other day and said my cervix is closed tight and has not even begun to soften. She suggested I start taking evening primrose oil orally and vaginally along with a couple of homeopathic remedies. Other than that, I have been spending as much time as I can on the yoga ball, squatting, and walking on the days that I'm not too sore (groin is achey these days)...wish me luck!

I'm about a week behind you and my baby is riding high and I sure haven't had any signs... then I think about how in every DDC there is always the "who else is still pregnant" tribe for the ladies that are 41+, 42+ weeks! I feel a little silly now for being *so* worried about a preemie again.

Just think though, being closed is not really too much of an indication -- a lot of women can go from nothing to having their baby in a matter of hours.

Often, first timers go post dates. So, try to not get discouraged.

:

First babies actually average 41w3d for being born.

None of those things mean anything really. You can be completely not dilated & have a baby a few hours later. Some babies don't drop until after labour starts, even for first timers (mine are like that).

My first son was born at 40 weeks and 2 days. Before I started to go into labor, I had no signs. He didn't drop, my water didn't break, no lost mucous plug or bloody show. It just came out of nowhere and started with contractions. I did a lot of walking the night before!

I am a week ahead of you and keep looking for signs. 39 today. It is our first and I do not know of any "signs" other than more BH's and that they increase at night. I am the LAST of a large group of friends (6) who have had babies in the last 3 months, not to mention all the ladies in this DDC, and the stress of increased BP and crazy changes : with my midwife situation (oh, neither one that I specifically chose will be able to deliver- long story). I am discouraged and frustrated and I know that this is not helping. I also can only take 8 weeks leave and now that I cannot work until delivery, that means less time w little one.
So, should I "get checked" on Monday? All along I have had the attitude that I would not-- it is not a true indicator of much of anything. "Babies come on their birthdays"... But could it make me feel better/worse? I also have another NST...due to this blood pressure thing.

Wow- sorry about the rant. I am super emotional

I'm 38 1/2 weeks and I don't really have any signs either! I wish I did, but I TRY and keep reminding myself that he will come at the perfect time...

I had my first baby at 38.5 weeks and had no signs until the evening I went into labor. No BH, no dilation, and I don't think he had dropped either. That evening I had some mild BH, lost my mucous plug, my water broke, and then I was in labor!

I was 12 days "late" with my first baby and the only signs I had was the day I went into labor. If something was happening prior to that, I didn't catch it because I had no idea what to look for. I don't remember being in pain or cramping or even feeling pressure. I was young and very fit which helped, I'm sure. So, yes, very common! I know it can be frustrating, especially when you're part of a forum like this and you see what everyone else is experiencing. But it's not much longer for any of us!

I like hearing this... It reminds me and gives me hope that just because you're not having any symptoms doesn't mean ANYTHING!

labor can start at any time rather you feel like anything has happened or not!

Well,
I had another check-up yesterday. I'll be 40 weeks along as of tomorrow. The Dr. said that I am a fingertip dilated (not even 1cm), and the baby has still not dropped. I lost my mucous plug several days ago. I know none of this really means anything...I can't wait to meet this baby

with dd1 my water didn't break, she didn't drop until labour had started, no pressure, etc. basically, nothing until contractions started.
personally, i didn't bother with "checks" with this one because i knew that i'd be frustrated if they told me i was dilated/effaced such and such and still no baby. but that's really a personal choice.
good luck ladies!

Still no baby...I will be a week past my estimated due date tomorrow. The midwife ways that the baby is still not engaged...cervix is still only at 1 cm and tight. She has suggested the foley catheter...anyone else in my situation?

I am 41 weeks today. Eeek! I am SO ready it's not even funny, but this little girl is apparently content to keep swimming inside me for awhile.
