I'm torn here and find myself unable to vote... but I'll give you my comments (feel free to ignore them).

We chose BG 3.0 as our workhorse diaper (we have 8 of them), and I love them when they are new, but the velcro is both a strength (for caregivers who need the simplicity of velcro) and a weakness (the velcro stopped sticking to the laundry tabs in just 6 months or so of use, which meant it started to stick to (and snag) any other diapers in the same load). I hang my pockets to dry and am pretty careful, and I think diapers should hold up better than mine did. Fortunately, there is a warranty on them in the first year, so I've recently gotten new replacement diapers (just the cover, not the insert) at the cost of paying the return shipping. It's really a shame, because I LOVE these diapers when they are new. I'm going to do everything I can to keep them nice this time, but I think I'll probably wind up having to replace the laundry tabs myself when they inevitably start to not stick again. Not a big deal, but still... On the plus side, though, the suedecloth lining doesn't pill. Ooh, AND, I think the BG inserts are the best microfiber inserts of the ones we have tried. Very absorbent, and it's nice that they snap down to fit in whatever size you've adjusted the diaper to. One more comment about these -- though they are one-size, the totally unsnapped size is smaller than the other OS diapers we own. DS is in the 5th percentile for weight, so that's okay for us -- but it might not be for another kid.
HH OS velcro... they're okay. We have 6 of them. LOVE the cow print. The included (large) insert doesn't "fit" very well into the diaper if the diaper is not unsnapped to the largest size setting, which I find to be annoying. The fleece is so soft when you buy the diaper, but it doesn't stay soft. The velcro *does* seem to stick to the laundry tabs, preventing chaining in the wash. When my son wears these for naps, it is not uncommon for the diaper to leak -- in this sense, I think the BG are FAR superior.
We also use FB (mediums -- we bought before the OS existed), mostly at night, and like them. They hold up well -- I think this is related to snap closure. (I wish snaps weren't likely to confuse daycare teachers / allowed by our daycare.) Like the HHs, the fleece lining doesn't stay as soft as it is when you buy it... but I guess I'm not sure DS cares/notices.
I also like the Swaddlebees Eco-Nappi. Not a stay-dry lining, but the organic cotton velour stays so nice and soft (I hang mine to dry until just damp and then pop them in the dryer for 10 minutes or so to fluff the velour). This is a good quality pocket, and particularly if you go with the snap closure, it should wear well for a long time.
Best of all possible worlds for me would be to improve the BG velcro/laundry tabs combo so that they held to each other better over the long term.
If you aren't a meticulous kind of person, you might want to go with snap closures on all your diapers so that you don't have to worry about velcro snags. And consider that whatever pocket you choose, your diapers will last longer/look better if you don't dry them in the dryer -- it's definitely easier on the elastic...
Oh, and about your water issues... with pockets, you need to be pretty disciplined about your wash routine and avoiding rash creams. We haven't had too many issues with buildup on our diapers, but I'm pretty meticulous -- I use Charlie's for all of our laundry, and run each load of diapers through more cycles than many people do (I do one full cold wash cycle w/ Charlie's, one full hot wash cycle w/ Charlie's & Oxiclean Baby, and one final full hot wash cycle with nothing to make sure my dipes are getting fully rinsed). Having enough diapers in our rotation to only have to do diaper laundry every 3 days is key for us.
