Refresh my memory on washing new dipes...

It's been a while since I got new dipes, so I'm a little rusty on do's/don'ts. Can I wash everything together (prefolds, fitteds, OS, covers?) if they are all brand new?
Do the prefolds have to be washed then dried 3-5 times, or is it just washed 3-5 times?
Do the fitteds have to also be washed as many times as the pf's? (I have some from little lion, 1 kissaluvs, 1 thirsties).
And I do remember covers really only need to be washed then dried once to be ready, right?
Thanks! It's fun to buy new stuff, I just forgot how to get them ready!!!

I always wash everything together. I think prefolds are the only thing that need to be washed more, I'm pretty sure fitteds don't. I've only ever bought them used though. You can also boil the prefolds to save on time and water.
Good luck!

I personally would wash any natural fiber separately. If it is natural or organic cotton, or hemp or bamboo, it has natural oils in it. Same for prefolds if they are unbleached. That's why you have to wash it multiple times. If you wash them together, the natural oils could re-deposit back on your other diapers. I personally think 3 wash/dry cycles would be sufficient for the natural fibers. If they have been processed (printed, dyed, etc), then I think one wash/dry is fine. Same with polyester (pockets or covers)...That's my 2 cents!
