Snaps or Hook & Loop?

Which do you prefer and why? And does the age of the baby have any bearing on the preference?

Ooooh - this is the question of the century. I like velcro for fit - you can adjust it to anywhere you want. It's a tiny bit faster, in my opinion. However, i HATE when my velcro all sticks together in the wash, gets filled with fuzzies, and starts curling. Seems to me that when a diaper wears out before its time, it is often because the velcro dies (sometimes elastic, too). For that reason, I am little by little, transitioning to snaps.

I'm not really sure age makes a difference, but I do think snaps are a little harder to remove - for the curious child.

I started out loving velcro but now I am all about the snaps. My DS can't take the snaps off like he can with the velcro, and I hated what the velcro did in the wash!!!

Snaps, definitely.

they both have their pros and cons. While I make both, I still choose to focus on aplix closures because of imo its superior fit.
But I like snaps for their for their look and detachment coming out of the wash.
For me, the curious stage of removing the diapers was a blink of time and not a big deal with any of my children.

I'm in the process of acquiring some snap diapers because I can see the aplix becoming an issue in the wash. I can also see where the fit would probably be better with aplix.

Snaps. Aplix was an issue in the wash. I got rid of all my aplix diapers.

I also like snaps better. The velcro is nice when you are putting on the dipe, but the aplix sticks to too many things in the wash. They do have laundry tabs, but sometimes DH doesn't hook them up (I don't want to go through dirty dipes making sure they are attached) or they do come apart in the wash. Hair and lint will get stuck in the aplix.

Snaps.

Hands down.

I started out loving velcro but I hate it now and love snaps.

I like snaps better. But right now I use velcro most of the time. It is just faster for my son. He is not a fan of diaper changes. He doesn't mind once they are on. He just likes to be on the move all the time now!!!

I like snaps for the above state reasons and because I have an easier time using snaps for standing diaper changes. With velro I have to adjust it several times with a standing change and she gets cranky. I know what snap she is on.

Its a toss up, but usually I go for snaps.

Velcro - better more customizable fit BUT easy to get off and it tends to loose its 'stick' after repeated use.

Snaps - Much harder for LO's to get off, always looks nice and they rarely break. Most manufacturers have a snap garuntee so even if they do break you can get them fixed for free. You loose a bit with fit, but the pro's are worth it imo

Snaps. I think all my reasons are covered above. Look nicer, last longer, wash better, can do standing and crawling-away changes.

Sounds like a consensus to me. Snaps it is. Thank you for the input, ladies!

Neither!

Velcro got pilly, stuck to everything, and is easy for baby to undo. Snaps take forever to snap on my wiggler...especially when there are tons on each side.

I like PINS.
I would think pins would be much harder on a wiggler! hehe

But I really like either. Definitly velcro for late almost in the dark changes and then snaps if I'm letting her go around in the house w/ just a diaper which is rare. The ones I've been more careful with of the velcro, have stayed in better condition longer, but yes the snaps do seem like they will last longer. Do you have a particular diaper you are referring to?

I love my velcro! The fit I think is better and putting all those snaps together on a 7 month old that won't stop rolling over is an aggrivating task! I just find that the velco is soooo much quicker and better fitting. I have no problem with link and junk getting on my tabs in the wash b/c I don't wash them with "shedding" fabrics/diapers. Plus, thats what the laundry tabs are for. I sometimes have had to sew stronger laundry tabs on, b/c the ones that come on the dipes don't always hold as strong as I'd like.
