What items are left on your "To Do"/"To Buy" Lists? - Page 2

Ohhhh....TAXES! Yep, that's one thing I haven't put on my list! You know, I think I'm going to wait and do them after the baby comes. I know that sounds crazy, but my life will probably be a bit easier then.

My mom is going to take the three other children for a few days so I can rest and bond with baby....It will probably be much easier to focus and complete taxes with one precious baby in my sling than three wild and crazy (but precious) kiddos running circles around me!

My To Do List:

-Take on as many writing projects as I can handle in the next week to try to make some extra money, so I can actually take a break when the baby arrives. Ugh, stinking economy!
-*Scrub* dining room and kitchen floors.
-Bleach out the birthing tub.
-Get the baby's closet ready.
-Move littlest guy's bed into a different room to make room for baby in the nursery.
-Rearrange the dining room to prepare for birth tub.
-Install the carseat.
-Send thank you notes for the baby shower
-Make a chicken soup and some bread, freeze it to have something to stick in the crockpot on birth day.

My To Buy List:
-Extra sheets for the bed
-A few essential oils for labor
-A *good* electrolyte drink (the EmergencE lemonade stuff is terrible!) for labor/post labor
-A cookie sheet and heating pad to create a baby warmer!

I know there is probably more, but that's all I can think of at the moment.

To Do's and to Buys, eh?

I need to buy a cleaner so I can really deep clean the bathrooms. They are all tile and I want to get the grout clean.

Wash all the floors.

Make DS his princess dresses.

Cook a lot of freezable food.:

Buy comfortable slippers for me.

Wash and foil wrap receiving blankets and gather rest of stuff for birth kit to put in one location.

Baby due in about 3 weeks, have two boys at home all the time and am planning my first overnight without the boys next weekend. No problem.

Will I though? Not all of them.

I hope I'm not jinxing myself by saying this, but I think I have everything done that needs to get done. : Of course there are thing I could do, but as far as the things that needed to get done before the birth are taken care of. like someone else I don't have the car seat properly installed or the co-sleeper up, but were having a homebirth and didn't even really use the co-sleeper with ds. However, if I can't get ds out of our bed by the time the baby comes we might need the co-sleeper.

I will need to buy more snack type food for the midwife and her assistant as they requested, in case of a long labor. My kids keep eating all the food I buy for the midwife. oh well.

So left on my list:

1. Nursing bras
2. More laundry soap (Not critical.. but at same place i'll probably buy my bras)
3. Lanolize my new wool covers... just washed 1st time today
4. taxes submitted (done.. just waiting for one more state update on program!)
5. Write up all the transfer employee stuff for new manager at work yet to be named (UGGGHHHHH).
6. Pack bag
7. Figure out food/drink to take with as emergency stash
8. Install car seat
9. Make curtains if the urge so comes to me.

All small stuff mostly... nothing that prevents taking the baby home except the car seat of course!!!

Lots of work this weekend with cleaning up our third closet I mean now bedroom and getting rid of the last of the stuff that just had to go to make space for another individual in the house. Got all the clothes washed, etc.

But I've got 4 more weeks... so I'm sure I'll think of something around the house I MUST DO like paint the entire thing or something.

That is exactly what I am doing: painting the house!
But I have 5 weeks left, so plenty of time. . . I am actually asking my husband to do most of the work, and have modified my ambitious goals to really just the living room before the babe gets here (then the rest when??!)

otherwise, we are pretty ready. All cloth diapers and infant clothes are clean and folded in our room. Gotta do a "dry" run with the birthing tub to make sure we know how to fill and empty it, get the cosleeper and car seat in. We have all the homebirth supplies ready- I did even buy Depends, just in case! ah the life of a glamour mom

To do:
- Install baby seat, sun shades and mirror (thankfully, the hospital checks the seat for us, so we don't have to worry about going elsewhere to get it checked)
- Get the rest of the baby clothes into the dresser (all NB stuff is in, just have to put in the bigger-sized clothes)
- Clean the house one last time
- Pack my hospital bag

To buy:
- Baby soap
- The hoses and sucky boob cup thingies for a breast pump that my friend is letting me use.

But both of those aren't horribly pressing. It's so nice to be at a point where if this kid came tomorrow, we'd be ready.

He'll be here on march 4th, unless I go before or he needs to come before for an issue, oh the joys of being so high risk. I just have a lot of cleaning and laundry left to do. I have to put away clothing and organize some stuff too, hopefully it will get done this week because well next week it will be too late lol. I am having the worst time doing anything though I really am...my pelvic bone is popping out of place and I am in wicked pain every night/morning too. I am having a hard time keeping up with my kids too. So I cant do much around teh house either.

chux pads
perhaps something for a birthing ball
nursing bras
a potty

To do: clean bathroom and get birthing tub ready

-Vacuum the house
-Make a lasagna to freeze
-Install the car seat
-Some grocery shopping--since there is like no food in the house right now!
-CD's for birth

I think that is about it. I'm feeling pretty good about it all.

I've got to:

install car seat and get inspected
upload music to ipod
pack hospital bag - I'll be waiting on this only to slow DH down, I know he'll want to go to the hospital asap.
i have so much left to do its ridiculous. i decided to recover the glider we bought and that hasnt been going well (brand new to sewing!) so i should get that done, we have ds's room to paint along with the livingroom and hallway. finishing the kitchen and bathroom cabinets. finishing packing my bag, cleaning like crazy, getting the car seat inspected, making some freezer meals...

to buy:
i need to order our diapers! eep!
nursing bras
crib to sidecar
mattress and mattress wrap
more clothes!
a potty seat of some sort (for ec)
fabric for a wrap and a sling
and im sure there are many more things i just cant think of yet. and its getting so close!

I completely forgot about bras, Shaylan. I'm so glad it was on your list. I normally don't wear them, but there's a time that I need them or I just end up with a wet shirt all of the time. It completely took me by surprise with my first baby and I ended up having my husband make a rushed shopping trip while I kept a diaper wrapped around my chest. Thank you for inadvertently reminding me of this. I don't want to end up in that position again.

Thanks for the motivation folks!

To do:
prepare lecture to give next week
bake towels and blankets for birth
wash at least some baby clothes
purge some of DS' toys so there is more room in the house
prepare several more freezer meals
get directions to hospital in case of transfer (DH's job)
Make sure the hose fits the tub faucet to fill the birth tub

To buy:
nothing!

My list is mostly centered on finishing things up at work.

Thankfully my home list is short
1) buy a lamp that works with my new nightstand/co-sleeper setup. The one I have now is a hazard.
2) finish washing the last couple of baby clothing items
3) harass DH about finishing his 'to do' list
4) print mailing labels for birth announcements (finished cleaning the addresses yesterday!)
5) practice loading pics from the camera and footage from the video camera onto my new computer so I can share with the grandparents who are being very respectful of our request for a babymoon.
6) pick up the car from the body shop. thankfully they finished repairing the accident damage before the baby arrived (and remember to be incredibly greatful baby and I weren't in the car when the passenger side was hit)
7) repeat #3 and harass DH about finishing his 'to do' list because he has had it for months and its things I can't do
