Rash rash rash

My DD just turned a year old and it seems to me that at LEAST once a week, she has a rash. I put breastmilk or weleda diaper care on it and it will clear up (couple times use the thick triple paste with a diaper liner) in a day or two. Instead of treating the problem, I want to fix the cause of the problem...

We use prefolds and thirsties covers and I change her often. We use country save detergent (in a front loader). I do a cold rinse, long hot wash with extra rinse, long warm wash with extra rinse and dry on hot (except covers).

ANY thoughts? I feel so bad for her...

Have you tried fleece liners? Maybe she can't handle even a little wetness.

Maybe she is sensitive to certain foods? try to keep track of what she eats so you can tell if there is a pattern to it.

What does it look like? When did these rashes start? Could it be something in her diet, or yours if bf'ing? Maybe she has a yeast rash. That can be pretty hard to get rid of. If it's yeast it will be a red/pink splotchy rash with little satellite dots around it. If that's what it looks like you might want to boil her diapers, or maybe add a little bleach. But like the pp said, maybe its just that she is really sensitive to wetness, in which case fleece might help. Good luck, I know from experience that rashes can be so frustrating!!

We have dealt with rashes, too, and yes, it is frustrating! Probably the most common cause is build-up on the diapers. My understanding is this can happen a little easier with FL's because there's less water flowing around. Try to turn up the hot water heater and do several extra rinses on extra extra hot. Watch for bubbles in the water (you don't want any, well, barely any). Or boil your pf's. This has the advantage of killing any bacteria/yeast in the diapers and help clearing buildup.

Most of my ds's rashes were from food allergies, so that is a possiblity. But hopefully not.
