local moms on Facebook...

Thread Starter
One of the moms groups had a thread about circumcision (one mom asking where she could get it done), I was the only person who voiced my opinion against the procedure (very politely, I might add), and I've been jumped on about it. Seriously, in this day and age ppl still use the argument that a son should be mutilated b/c his father was? They all go on and on about 'choice', but what about the baby's choice? I'm just shocked (sad, actually) that ppl can be so cavalier about it, even likening it to getting ears pierced.... No real point here, but I need to vent. My husband (circ'ed) doesn't get why I would bother saying anything... Is it really so terrible to offer an opinion when it wasn't solicited? I just think it's something that should be discussed, perhaps if the mom knew that in this day & age, most boys are left intact, she might pause to reconsider.

Many people don't see it as the serious human rights violation that it is.

You can join nocirc on facebook, too.

I'm surprised you got such a strong pro-circ reaction in a Canadian group.

you provided a little intactivism there so the unsolicited advice doesn't count as unsolicited advice! You can PM her with the info and videos, probably post some of those in your profile? I use my facebook acct for all my intactvism!

That sucks! I have stayed away from the moms circle because of MY unpopular ideas- breastfeeding, tandem BF, CLW, co-sleeping, cloth diapering, gentle discipline, intact boys, general AP lifestyle....I just don't like the negativity that many other moms have!

I agree that maybe you've provided some pearl of wisdom for some lurking mother. Keep up the good work!

I'm sorry but we do not host discussions that refer to discussions elsewhere, especially where criticism is raised. In the Rules:

Quote:
Do not post to invite MDC members to other boards for adversarial purposes or post inflammatory information about MDC discussions at other boards, or about communities and discussions elsewhere, regardless of whether or not you link to that discussion or community. This is to maintain and respect the integrity of our own and other communities.
Whenever posting a thread to discuss your own actions and statements and the reactions of others you should refrain from mentioning the place of occurrence or any identifying information. Discussing the topic in general is fine as long as you disassociate it from where and with whom it occurred.
