Flavor sprays?

The only thing that Linden is allowed to lick is suckers. I think we're going to have to nix these at our next pulm appt (they make him sound really junky). He is SO addicted to them though. He lives for pops, they are constantly on his mind. So just not offering them isn't going to work (we tried putting him off yesterday and he screamed for an hour). So I need something not saliva causing to replace them. I was thinking of those flavored sprays that they use in ST and OT. I looked on line and the only one I could find (and it was perfect) was discontinued. Does anyone have any links or places where I can get some flavored sprays?

thanks!

you'll have to really search thru some products that aren't what you're looking for, but I think you may find something. Evidently, they have a few of those flavor sprays that are discontinued or out-of-stock everywhere else.

Could you make your own out of flavored stevia and water in a little mister bottle??? Not sure if this would be okay. I don't know where else to get them. Hope you figure something out.

the teacher in our self contained class has really good success with those too. they are the "warheads" sour sprays. the kids will do anything for a squirt. I dunno though, I would think that would be saliva producing at least for me it would!

she said you can buy them anywhere. like walmart or other stores like that.

can you use the lemon glycerin swabsticks? http://www.allmed.net/catalog/item/697 I'm assuming not becuse they would produce the saliva, but thought I'd throw the idea out there, we freeze ours.

Those were the only 2 things our speech/swallow therapist used, wished i could be of more help.

FYI, those tongue depressors have a mild flavor but they aren't like a lollipop by any stretch

They really are just incentive/distraction for a kiddo to let you use the depressor when needed for an oral exam or any other time you need cooperation with a tongue depressor.

I don't think they would be good as a replacement for a lollipop though. I'd try the warheads spray or something similar. The only issue I can see with that spray is just the extreme sourness triggering excess saliva

The plastic ones are actually quite flavorful and in the ones my son has, cherry and grape, the flavor has held up even through several quick dips in hot water to clean them.
