Thanks everybody! This was a planned homebirth with a hospital transfer due to gestational age (35+4).
I'm finally getting around to replying now b/c they kept us in the hospital for 4 days. And by that I mean, they basically imprisoned us there. I'll post a full birth story later, but basically they completely overreacted to her being a preemie, and put her in the NICU for 'erratic heart rate'. She never went above 180bpm, and the 'erratic' part? Those spikes were during contractions. She completely stabilized in 3 hrs (would have sooner if they'd just allowed me to hold her), and there was nothing else wrong of any consequence with her ("low" blood sugar at birth, lost 10% of birth weight in first day after being stuffed full of IV sugar and peeing a ton).
But they threatened to call Protective Services if we took her home. I'm struggling with a lot of anger right now, alongside my immense happiness that we're home, and that she's utterly perfect

In response to a few who asked about her vernix and so forth, she was born with very little vernix and almost no lanugo. Great pink color, strong cry and suck response right from the beginning. My midwife says there's a few signs you can find that she's early, such as the creases on her feet being not very deep. But functionally, she seems full-term.
Love to you all, both those who are getting through those final weeks of pregnancy and those who have their babes in arms. - corrie
