Whether substantiated or not, as Alegna says, there seems to always be the recommendation of getting tetanus where animal bites are concerned, pre or post it seems. I went to try to find any rates of tetanus due to animal bites but didn't find any such figures or studies but nearly every animal bite and wound management article referred to tetanus.
