I'm happy to annouce, a little late, that Owen came into the world on the 18th. I was 42 weeks and a day. It was a pretty short story, crazy intense delivery compared to my slow and steady 44 hour birth with my DD. Water broke at 10:30 pm tuesday, at 2:30 I got out of bed to pee and had a huge gush and the water was green. So we made our way to the hospital to listen to the little guy. In the car around 3:30 my contractions started becoming regular and I started relaxing through them. We arrived at the hospital and when they were finding his heartbeat he had a decel all the way into the 60's. I'm still not sure if I believe it was him and not me. I held them off on the internal monitor and he recovered fine but it meant being on the monitors most of my labor. We labored for a while in bed, on the ball, standing and swaying. I was finally able to take a walk around the hospital. Around 10ish things started to get a little more intense, we called our Doula, my wonderful cousin and she came to labor with us. We walked more, and I tired to nap a little between contractions. Things really started picking up fast and by two I was in the shower feeling like things were REALLY intense. I got out at 3 and decided to get checked which was a big mistake as I was only 5cm. I charged out into the halls again moaning and swaying determinted to not let myself feel discouraged. After about 20 minutes I was just too tired to keep walking and I went to labor in my side relaxation position. I just couldn't understand why it was hurting so bad if I was only half way done. Well at 4 all of a sudden I let out a roar and with no warning to anyone starting pushing as hard as I could. He was born 15 minutes later!!!! I couldn't believe how fast the second 5cm went. So after 13 hours total labor we had a beautiful son. Sadly things kinda went down hill from there. I started bleeding really bad before the placenta detached and ended up losing about half my blood. It kept us in the hospital two nights when we only planned on staying a few hours. I'm feeling better everyday, I had a small tear and the hemorides are horrible but looking at his sweet face and it all melts away. He is a WONDERFUL nurser and is almost back at his birth weight five days later.
