My DD was selected as a reporter for a new tween/teen WebCast. They are still working on the site but DD's first "report" is up on YouTube.

See what you ladies think:

Hope the like works!

It has been a great experience so far. The producer is all about positive power and building girls up! There are a bunch of other reports! Have your DD's watch them and if they have any ideas on whats hot have them send me a note, I will pass the info on to DD...she has to write all her own stories!

Who gets to pick the topics and who writes the scripts? I feel like girls watching this who don't have the money or whatnot to but the stuff they are promoting (converse sneakers, lots of make up from expensive places, new clothes with animal prints, the nintendo wii, CDs, etc) would feel kind of left out.

The girls have about 50 topics to pick from ranging from topics like fashion,music, our planet, TV, arts and crafts, nutrition and girls that show leadership.

Then they write the stories themselves. The producer checks them before they are tape, but she has never changed anything my DD has submitted. I see what ya mean how some of the topics may be on things that some girls would not be able to afford. But keep watching..DD has done oter stories including one on how to recycle old clothing!!

If you have other ideas...please pass them along!!!

Feminism? Not conforming? Not saying things like "if you wanna be hot you have to have colored jeans - they're a must."

I'm sorry. I really really really do not see how this is empowering girls.
