New vs old Ergo?

Hi have the old Ergo and with a new baby on the way was thinking about the New Generation Ergo. Is it worth it????????? Also, tell me about the infant insert - just wait and use a Moby or get it????

Hi, I'm pretty sure I have the old Ergo and I've never tried the new one so I can't help you there. However, as far as the infant insert goes, DD hated hers. The Moby was definitely my go to carrier for the first four months. HTH, Alicia

Now I'm confused - the blog link describes the new gen as having darts and 1 elastic band on the waist strap (which mine does). I got mine in 2006 and I thought it was old style. Have there been minor adjustments since 2006 but not as many as from the classic?

Thanks hrsmom - I had read the blog but wasn't sure about the source - sometimes people get paid to talk up a new item.......guess that sounds a little paranoid now that I think about it
Someone gave me a Moby so I think I'll use that in the beginning then see how the Ergo works for us.....With my DS I had a Bjorn until I burned it after getting the Ergo (just kidding - but I HATED the Bjorn!) at 18 months.

I haven't seen a lot of positives on the insert - it looks weird to me - I think I'd prefer a wrap style for the first few months....but ?????

I have to admit i prefer my old ergo to the new one. I have both. Somehow for me the old one is more comfortable, the straps on the new one have a bunch of padding in them but for me this causes more discomfort. What i prefer in the new one over the old one is the head holder for when they are young and fall asleep. WIth the old one there is velcro and with the new one snaps. THe snaps are way easier to deal with and there is elastic in the head part to hold the head in better. But the old one does the job too but a little more of a pain with the velcro. I will be using my old one with my new babe to be!

when you say old & new are you referring to the "sport" ergo as the "new" one? I am trying to figure out if I should get the sport or traditional.

DD HATED the infant insert! she would scream every time i tried to use it... but i think it was partly because she didn't like being bundled up... but now she loves the ergo, and i do too. i wouldn't recomend it with an infant.
