We do a lot of yoga at our house. The other day while doing homework, my DD, who is 10, said that she was getting all funky and tight, and needed to take a break and do some yoga.
I thought it was so sweet and said that I would love to take a yoga break with her.
Then she said that she thought they should have yoga at school, as one of the options during recess.
I thought I was the best mommy ever to be raising such a cool kid.
Then she said that they should use yoga as a punishment.
I thought
I thought may be I didn't hear her right, so I asked her to repeat.
And she said "pun ish ment. punishment. Yoga should be used as a punishment."
"Why?" I asked, completely bewildered.
"Because, they take recess away from kids as a punishment. They make them go to study hall and read a book. And while some kids can refresh themselves and get ready for the rest of the day by sitting quietly and reading a good book, it's not the kids that they take recess away from. They should require them to do yoga instead. They would stretch and feel good, and learn to find a quiet place inside themselves."
