I think I just have to laugh!

I decided to knit the "Republic" hat from ravelry. I had some wool that I dyed and thought it was cute.

The problem was I had sz 8 circs instead of 10. So I knit a gauge and thought I figured out the pattern!

BOY WAS I WRONG! I "finished" it tonight--well it's a huge shapeless thing with a funky not on the top to one side--not even in the middle!

Do you have any tips for changing a pattern when you don't have the right size needles?

I met a lady at the park who told me there was a website that did guage conversion for patterns. She didn´t remember the address though but suggested googling things like: guage knitting conversion. Maybe you could find it; I haven´t had the need to try yet.

That or inverst in a set of interchangeable needles so you don´t find yourself in that position again.

If you do the advanced search on there you can narrow it down by needle size and/or gauge. As well as pattern type of course.
