I used this method as well, it's really easy!!

I know this isn't your original question, but it sounds like your husband is very very depressed and could really benefit from some counseling and hopefully some emotional healing. I've been through a lot myself, and have been doing counseling for a few months now. My only regret is that I didn't go sooner. It's a huge investment in my relationship with my husband, and our future kids. Emotional health is just so important, and trying to tough it out, is not very wise.

wishing you the best!

Hi,
I registered on here just so I could answer your thread. I remember when we were TTC, it was hard to find support for self-insemination. My DH can't have biological children and his brother was kind enough to be our sperm donor. I self-inseminated at home and conceived on the 5th cycle. I would be more than happy to answer any questions you have and give you some pointers of what worked for me.

This is what I was going to suggest. The Instead Cup will keep the sperm right up there near your cervix. Good luck to you!

Do you have to masterbate with the instead cups?

wow. i have to say that i agree that the health of your husband's physical and mental state, and your family situation should take first priority over your ticking clock. i fully understand that this is my opinion, and i am not trying to tell you what to do. but sometimes an outsiders point of view is so nice to have, and very eye opening. and i see many people here saying to take care of your family first and foremost. :)

that being said, PLEASE don't do at home IUI. sticking anything inside your uterus is so unsafe and can cause massive infection or worse. it could permanently damage your chances at conceiving ever again. like i said....COULD, not WILL, but please don't take the chance.

the instead cup is probably your best bet with fresh sperm at home.

good luck deciding what is best for your family. hug2.gif

8/21/08l How long did it take you to conceive?  Did you use the instead cup also?

Vybe I found this looking for something for a friend but I wanted to reply to your post. I have used the instead cups after dtd with dh I just put one in after dtd and leave it in for till morning. But if you are using it like a iui then yes your donor(dh or dp or who ever is your donor) will have to give you a sample and you put it in the cup and insert... Hope that helps... They cycles I have used instead cups I have gotten pg but I am not doing the iui just using them to hold it in.... Gl

A fertility doctor we saw actually recommended this to us & gave us sterile cups & syringes for the purposes. Dh was having a hard time at the time maintaining an erection at the time because of the stress of ttc. It had become too much pressure for us. We actually only did it once but knowing we had an easier way actually took a lot of the pressure off of him.
