Hello!
Yesterday, my dd5 celebrated her 100th day of school. Her teacher encouraged her and her classmates to make a project for the special occasion. My girl decided to make 100 heartprints by cutting out 100 paper hearts, which she did all by herself, and putting them in a pretty container. She was inspired by the idea from the book her teacher always reads in class entitled Heartprints. The idea is that whenever you do something kind and generous for someone else, you leave a heartprint and help to make the world a better place. The idea is absolutely lovely and is a great way to introduce the idea of generosity to small children.
So, I wrote all that to say that this idea is one that we consistently bring up in our household, "how can we give back to others."
As I was making breakfast this morning, a thought entered in my mind that suggested I write a post thanking all of you for the invaluable jewels information contained throughout this website. You are all leaving one big heartprint whenever you post of your experiences. Since discovering Mothering.com I have been able to get help for an ear infection (prevention is just as valuable as treatment), dry skin issues (resolved with a shea butter and olive oil mixture), and a religious exemption letter (successfully accepted by the school nurse)! Whenever my girls are sick or I need help figuring something out related to them or family life in general, I immediately log on and find exactly what I am looking for.
So, again, many thanks to all who participate and post your feelings, thoughts, and ideas. I am so happy and relieved to see that there are others out there who believe as I do in a natural, holistic, "granola" (yes, people do call me that) way of life.
