I went to see my allergist today about being sick and wanting to boost my immune system. He suggested (for the first time) that I get a flu vaccine. When I expressed surprise as we had discussed NOT getting the flu vaccine for many reasons last year he explained that there is a new way to give the flu vaccine which boosts the immune system. He said that instead of giving a full dose intramuscularly a very small dose (he said 1/10th) is placed just under the skin and slowly is absorbed. He said this protects against flu, but more importantly, in my case, boosts the immune system. He recommended that I have one in a few weeks when I have recovered from this latest sinus thing and then again in the fall. I have googled and googled and what I have found pertains only to coverage against flu vaccine (and that this method is effective for those between 18-40 but not the old, young, or immune compromised). So...anyone else heard of this or know where I could find information?
Thanks!
