Naming baby

Anyone else having problems sticking with a name? This is the biggest thing on my to do list before our baby boy arrives and I just can't find the right name. We have a book with 50000 names but nothing stuck with me. I have been reading all the names on movie credits and searching on line but I am stuck with a short list of names that I don't love. My 3 year old DD went ahead and named her baby brother Oliver. I guess she got tired of waiting for us to name him.

Still have no clue about a name here, either. My mom's been bugging me to come up with something.

I'm with ya - and we don't know the gender so it's an even bigger issue! I think I am having a boy though so I have been focusing on boy names. It's hard when you have an older kiddo b/c it adds the dimension of "does it sound good with his/her name"...

My favorite boy names right now are Jesse, Casey, Charlie (aren't there lots of those around these days?), Tyler, and Cedar. But, nothing just says "yeah, that is the one"...

maybe we just have to meet our babies first!

I have no clue either. Nothing really stikes me this time and I have been thinking about it since before conception! My kids have a name they really want but I am just not feeling it. Dh and I haven't even spoken about names at all this pregnancy. I guess it really will be my job this time.

We have nothing either...I just made a list the other day because I felt I should at least have something written down. I've just come to the conclusion that this little one will get a name once he arrives.

no name for our baby girl yet either. she's due in 11 days....

We don't know the gender either, nor have we come close to a shortlist of names for each gender. Like DD, this one will be nameless until after they're born, and likely for several days like DD was.

I was in your position, but we have finally found a name for this baby. Lillian's mom, considering your daughter's name, you might like the name we chose. I'll pm it to you. We ended up looking at 3 different books, one 20,000 names, one 50,000 names, and one with an unspecified amount of names. We probably read at least 50,000 names to finally find one. I like Oliver a lot. With your daughter giving it to him, maybe you should keep that as one part of his name.

We have no boy name chosen either and can't agree on anything. We do have a girl name picked so are hoping it will be a girl. If it's a boy, I have a feeling he'll be nameless for a little while.

My due date is tomorrow, and we just changed the boy name again a couple of days ago. We changed the girl name a few weeks ago. I hope the baby comes soon because the longer we have to wait, the greater the likelihood we'll change our minds again!

Good luck deciding names, mamas!

I thought we had a good short list...two possibilities for each gender, each with both a first and middle name. We're thinking we will wait until we meet baby to finalize.

But now I'm questioning the girl names! One is insanely common these days, though beautiful. The other is nice, but is nice enough??

I know whatever we pick, we'll love it because it belongs to our child.

I was due this past Sunday and we are still VERY undecided.....

We are pretty settled on a girl's name, but I would like to have two options in case she doesn't look like the name that is first on our list...

We have absolutely zero boys names that we agree on

I guess I just have to hope it is a girl

I am having a terrible time. We let the kids choose the middle name and they picked River months ago- whether it is a girl or a boy. DH has names he prefer, and the kids have names they prefer to go with it, but I just can't decide. The funny thing is that the girl name that I really wanted a couple months ago is the one that everyone thinks we should name the baby if it is a girl, and now I feel ambivalent about it!

Hoping when I meet the baby I will just know!

That's cool that you let your kids pick out the middle name.

We were thinking of using River for either a boy or a girl name, then decided to use River as the boy middle name, and then DH decided that he wanted River to be the boy first name. DH also chose the girl name (Piper Alexandra). Since he chose all the other names, I insisted that the boy middle name be after my grandfather (Dale).

Glad I am not alone! Still at a loss. I think we will use Oliver as a middle name. I like it and can't beleave how stronge our 3 year old DD feels about it.

oliver has always been at the top of my list however dh is totally against it.
i finally got dh to discuss names last week and we were able to narrow it down to two names for girls and two names for boys; two for each because we don't agree! it'll be interesting to see what happens if this baby ever decides to come!

We had firm names for years before we got pregnant. Then about 2 months ago we started re-thinking the girls name. I even posted a poll at MDC because we just can't decide. Its still completely up in the air and it looks like we are having a girl. I even took to doing statistical analysis on name trends (I'm a data geek).

I think its just going to have to wait until the baby arrives and its driving both of us crazy.

We have an extensive list for both a girl and boy and the girl names will work great (as we like lots of them since we haven't used them yet...3 boys). But, our boy names are just okay, cause we used all the ones we loved already. I read about one family who focused on the meaning of the name and then would search for a name that meant whatever it is. Their last one took them over 5mo. to decide. I guess she was just called baby for a while...

We like biblical/hebrew/aramaic names and the combo for both first and middle have 5 syllables (i.e. 1st has 3, 2nd has 2 or vice versa).

So, I am stuck as well....

WE don't have any names picked either, but we're not too concerned about it. We've said from the beginning that we can't name someone we've never met, so we'll wait until after birth to pick a definite name. Although I really want my husband to name the baby, so it will be all him. We'll see how he does under pressure!
