Excessive baby movement?

I'm 39 weeks and 3 days pregnant, due March 1st. We're pretty sure of the due date both because of charting and a very early ultrasound. All of a sudden my baby is much more active than he's been in about a month and a half.

Is this normal? I'm worried that the sudden increase in movement, which happened four days ago, might be a sign of a problem, but both my midwife and my doula seem unconcerned. They both insist that it's normal, and doesn't mean either that a) there's a problem or b) I'm going into labor.

Incidentally, the number of Braxton Hicks contractions that I've had during this time has also decreased significantly.

Anyone out there have something similar at this stage in their pregnancies?

I recall this with my DD a few days before going into labour. Trust your midwife and doula, babe is probably just working its way into position.

I've had the same thing recently...lots of movement from this LO, but LO seems to have settled down again...thank goodness. All of the crazy moving was starting to hurt. I'm hoping for mine it was just settling into place since my LO had been all over the place as far as position.

My friend have the same experience before her labor. So I guess there's nothing to worry about, it's just normal. . .

I could not believe how much the baby was moving on Sunday, and it was really painful. The baby has definitely calmed down in the last few days, but Sunday was crazy. I admit I was a bit worried, too, but all was fine at my appointment on Tuesday.

The exact same thing has happened here. Over the past few days, the baby has been jumping around. I mentioned this to my OB...he seemed not worried at all. He just laughed and said Liam was trying to find his way out.
