Pregnancy and Weight

I am 11 weeks along and I have already gained 8 lbs ! I am 5'2ft and pre-pregnancy was 130lbs.

I have only recently started into NT/TF diet say the last 3 weeks.
For breakfast, I eat grits (w/butter and sea salt) during the week, bacon and eggs w/ organic bread on the weekend. Lunch is something homemade like lasagna (organic pasta) or enchilda's etc. Snacks include, 1/2 to 1 avocado, organic yoghurt, crispy almonds, banana/clementine/apple. I supplement with barley green in orange juice when i need the extra boost.

I would say I probably eat too many potatoes for dinner? I like to fry them up on olive oil, bacon grease or peanut oil. I don't eat alot of pasta beside when I make lasagna which is once a month. We have been eating basmati rice cooked in chicken stock, around 2-3 times a week.
Last night's dinner was baked potato that had soaked in chicken stock, with real sour cream (as real as I can get, I buy Daisy brand that contains only cream). Some deer steak, and green beans/peas with pepper and two tablespoons of butter.

I have been making my own chicken stock and using that a fair bit. I am trying to stay away from all processed oils/fats. I eat commercial butter w/no added salt - I haven't found a raw source yet. Two weeks ago I started on raw milk and drank the gallon in a week. I get my next gallon Saturday!

Where am I going wrong, or is the weight gain ok??
My goal is to go back eventually to 110lbs, which was where i was 3 yrs ago.

I wouldn't be concerned about weight gain during pregnancy, as long as it is not turning into excessive fat on your body. Excess carbs turn into fat on the body ( i.e. bread, pasta, cereals, sugar...) So if you're really concerned about what you're eating turning into fat on your body, I'd first cut down on the bread and pasta that you mentioned.

8lbs doesn't seem like too much to me at all! almost right away I gain 3-5 lbs b/c of the early pregnancy bloat. before I ever show a lb I gain it and get puffy around my stomach if that makes sense. so 8lbs at 11 weeks really doesn't seem bad to me at all. and honestly you're a bit thign to begin with, so you and baby likely needed that weight! I wouldn't try to discourage weight gain as long as its in moderation. (there is no set right number). a lot of people think "if I gain this weight I will never loose it after baby comes!" but that is only true if you gain TONS of weight. everyone should gain something. the smaller you start out at, the more you tend to gain generally.

however, if you really feel you're packing on unhealthy lbs way too quickly at some point I would decrease the carbs like potatoes and rice. don't do away with carbs though b/c you need them when you're pregnant. just eat smaller portions. and sugar should always be the first thing you cut. b/c nobody needs sugar. if that didn't work then I would start deleting carbs here and there, if that makes sense.

Ditto on the carbs. In past pregnancies, I ate pretty much as you're describing, and gained 40-50 lb. I was bigger all over, and had to wear XL maternity clothes by the end. I'm a size M when not pregnant, so I really was relatively huge. This time, I'm following the SCD for gut healing (it isn't a low-carb diet, but it doesn't allow grains or starchy vegetables, so people typically end up eating fewer carbs overall), and I'm actually having trouble keeping weight on, despite eating a lot of substantial meals and snacks. The small amount I've gained is definitely "all baby."

I wouldn't make any big changes -- your diet sounds pretty good -- but if you're concerned, you can try cutting back on the portion size of the grits, potatoes, bread, etc., and adding extra fat if you need it to feel full. More leafy greens would also be a good thing. It's best to try to have some greens 2x a day; among other things, they help your liver to do its job in metabolizing fats and sugars. (IMO, Nourishing Traditions doesn't put sufficient emphasis on this... maybe because it's not "politically incorrect" enough for the authors' liking. ) While pregnant, I'm extra sensitive to the bitter taste of greens, so I don't tend to eat them plain, but I do enjoy a moderate serving when it's pureed with sour cream or chopped finely in casseroles. :

Best wishes for a comfortable and healthy pregnancy.

with both my pregnancies I gain 8-10 pounds right away and ended gaining only 24 pounds with my son and 26 pounds with my daughter.
